Hello everyone,

I was just planning a kitchen, and since there is currently a 20% discount on the Faktum kitchens, it might be even more worthwhile.
I am just wondering what the main difference is compared to the new Metod series?

So far, I have basically only noticed that the components come in 20cm (8 inches) increments and the height has changed.
Therefore, I’m looking for someone who is familiar with the current Faktum kitchen and might be able to spot the details more quickly.
And maybe it’s also worth waiting for Metod for me.

Hello Fuxxz,

Besides the differences that the Ikea expert explained to you in the link, you could also try planning a Metod kitchen with a Scandinavian kitchen planner and a Faktum kitchen with a German one to see which you prefer. If you can wait for Metod and the dimensions fit your space, I would always choose Metod over the discontinued Faktum, despite the price advantage, so that you have the option to replace or add something in a few years.

Best regards

In Switzerland, METOD was introduced on April 1st. We originally planned the kitchen using FAKTUM and have now updated it to METOD. This is disadvantageous for homeowners with ceiling heights lower than 2.50 meters (8 ft 2 in).
For example, in our older building, we only have 215 cm (7 ft 1 in) of height available, and with the 60 cm (24 in) upper cabinets instead of the previous 70 cm (28 in) ones, we effectively lost 10 cm (4 in)!
We also did not receive any information about this change in dimensions, neither through notifications nor via the new catalog. Not very fair!

Hi,

@morendas:

You regained the lost 10cm (4 inches) from the wall cabinets by using the base cabinets, since Metod base cabinets are 80cm (31.5 inches) wide instead of 70cm (27.5 inches) like Faktum. Furthermore, Metod should be the better kitchen system for your ceiling height. Cabinets 211cm (83 inches) high with matching Faktum wall cabinets would be rather problematic for your ceiling height.

Why?
It should fit perfectly, right?

If you want to assemble the tall cabinets standing upright, that is of course possible. When assembled lying down as usual, you can no longer tilt them into a vertical position... for that, you would need a ceiling height of at least 2.20 meters (7 ft 3 in).
