Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

Herr_Sondermann3 May 2016 21:36I suspect this was done intentionally to encourage more kitchen buyers to look toward Hanau instead of Frankfurt. Unfortunately, our new kitchen will probably not exceed 3,000 EUR (about 3,300 USD), since we actually don’t want any IKEA appliances. Otherwise, we would also shop at IKEA Hanau and take the dishwasher with us. That's the only appliance we would consider buying there because of the front panel compatibility issue...

IKEA-Profi3 May 2016 22:31I don’t understand the reservations against electrical appliances at all.
My refrigerator and dishwasher have been working perfectly for over 10 years.
I simply haven’t needed an oven yet, as my old one still works.

Schmidti824 May 2016 11:55Well, for example, at Stiftung Warentest, brands like Liebherr and Miele tend to perform well.
My parents have all major appliances from Miele. In 35 years, they have each replaced their refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine once. They have replaced the dryer and vacuum cleaner twice. The ceramic cooktop, oven, and extractor hood are 35 years old and still work perfectly.
However, they are moving this year, so they will get a new kitchen with appliances as well.

IKEA-Experte4 May 2016 12:01When I bought electrical appliances, at that time I did not find any devices at IKEA that were comparable in features to those from other manufacturers.

The oven should have pyrolysis cleaning and a fermentation setting; Ikea only offers that with the Kulinarisk model for 799 EUR, while brands like Neff have similar models for about 650 EUR including shipping. The Ikea refrigeration units seem too expensive to me. There’s also no gas cooktop that I like. The range hood should be an under-cabinet model, which Ikea doesn’t offer at all.
Hello everyone,
I’m new to this forum and have gone through the entire thread. However, I’m still not completely sure if I have understood everything correctly.
We are currently planning to install a kitchen from IKEA in a summer house (a kind of larger insulated garden shed). We want to install a dishwasher since the kitchen will be used frequently in summer.
Noise level of the dishwasher is not a major concern, and I am considering the Neff model GX 31 (factory number S52L60X0EU) because it offers great value for money.
I hope I have understood everything correctly. Here is my consideration:
Raise the plinth to 9cm (3.5 inches) and move the front panel up by 1.5cm (0.6 inches). Fill the gap under the worktop with a strip.
or
Keep the plinth at 8cm (3.1 inches) and move the front panel up by 2.5cm (1 inch).
Would this work like that?
Below is the dimension drawing of the dishwasher.
Many, many thanks for your help
