Hello,

Unfortunately, I have to bring up the common topic of fitting a dishwasher from a different manufacturer, as I haven’t found clear information online and there seems to be a lot of confusion around this.

We want to buy a METOD kitchen with the GRYTNÄS front plus an 8cm (3 inch) toe kick. The dishwasher is planned to be placed between the sink cabinet and the stove.

We would like to buy a dishwasher. The question is, the measurements should fit well, I tried to compare the dimensions with IKEA dishwashers and didn’t find significant differences. However, I read in another thread that it’s recommended to use an XXL dishwasher. Why is that? Can’t we use the ones I mentioned just as well?

Also, what do I need to install the GRYTNÄS dishwasher front on a Siemens dishwasher?

Best regards

I have carefully reconsidered everything and now I understand the issue with a standard, non-XXL dishwasher. The countertop will start at 88 cm (35 inches), right? And the Siemens dishwasher can only be adjusted up to a height of 87.5 cm (34.4 inches), so there would be a 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) gap to the countertop.

My question is: could I place a 1.0 cm (0.4 inches) thick rubber mat underneath the dishwasher, like the ones often used under washing machines? Or would this become noticeable under the dishwasher and not be concealed by the kickboard?

Hello Dexian,

The dishwasher you mentioned does not fit.
If you take a closer look at the dimensions, you will see, for example, that the plinth height must be at least 9 cm (3.5 inches). At Ikea, the plinth is 8 cm (3 inches). Furthermore, the front must fit an 80 cm (31.5 inches) panel. The dishwasher’s front panel can be a maximum of 725 mm (28.5 inches).

And what would I need to install the Grytnas dishwasher front onto the Siemens dishwasher?

If you buy the Siemens SX778D01TE and use the one-piece Grytnas front, you won’t need anything else.

I’m familiar with this issue, although we only noticed it once the kitchen was almost fully installed. We raised the dishwasher by about 4 cm (1.5 inches) using a countertop cutout, which works fine. BUT since the bottom edge of the door doesn’t extend all the way down, we had to get a bit creative. The Bodbyn front (60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches)) is glued on, and behind part of the overhanging front, above the IKEA plinth, there is a board attached in the same color as the fronts (gray) (it could probably also be done in the cabinet color (white)). It’s inexpensive, simple, and looks like it was intentionally designed that way.

Edit: Our dishwasher is semi-integrated, meaning you would need a larger front—more like 80 x 60 cm (31 x 24 inches) or 2 pieces at 40 x 60 cm (16 x 24 inches) each, etc.

In my opinion, IKEA offers sliding rails, even for installing non-IKEA dishwashers. That could be a last resort solution.

Hello Eric, do you have a picture of your installation for us?
In my opinion, Ikea offers sliding rails, also for installing third-party dishwashers. As a last resort
That would be helpful, but only leftover stock is still being sold.
