Hello everyone!

We have finally bought our house, and now it’s time to plan the kitchen.

My husband has given me quite a bit of freedom; the only condition is that most of the existing kitchen furniture should be reused. At first, we thought we would have to somehow combine Metod and Faktum, which would have been an interesting result, but then I discovered the replacement parts service.

Has anyone ever ordered more than one or two pieces through it? Can you really get every little screw? (in Vienna)

What we have:
60cm (24 inches) sink base cabinet with 1 drawer
80cm (32 inches) with 3 drawers
60cm (24 inches) oven base cabinet
60cm (24 inches) drawer cabinet with internal pull-outs (I hope you know what I mean)
and the matching wall cabinets, the one above the oven is lower because of the extractor hood

I’ll now try to attach one picture, otherwise, I’ll have to describe my preliminary hand-drawn plan in words so you can imagine it. I find it very unfortunate that the old kitchen planner is no longer available.

Got it! I’ll start in the bottom left corner: freestanding refrigerator, then the large drawer units (existing), then the stove with pipe (existing), then a 40cm (16 inches) unit with 5 drawers, then the 90x90cm (35x35 inches) corner base cabinet, then either, as shown in the drawing, a 40cm (16 inches) and a 50cm (20 inches) door unit or the existing 60cm (24 inches) drawer unit and a 30cm (12 inches) bookshelf (we’ll build this ourselves, since you can’t get that at IKEA, right?), then another 90x90cm (35x35 inches) corner cabinet, then the dishwasher, after that a 60cm (24 inches) sink cabinet (existing), and finally a 40cm (16 inches) door unit.

Wall cabinets will be installed above the wide drawer units and the stove, then continue up to the end of the corner cabinet (or will that look terrible?). On the narrow side there is a window, and on the sink side a half-height wall.

For your information: I don’t need a pantry cabinet as we have a larder, and we will build the fronts ourselves; we only want to buy the carcasses, interior fittings, and hinges (what we don’t have).

Is this a feasible plan? I’ve never had corner cabinets before—do I need to watch out for anything, like the handles or something?

Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would only use corner cabinets if absolutely necessary. Just search for "dead corners."

Hello,
you can order everything listed in the PDF for Austria afterwards. In Austria, it will be the same as in Germany, and everything will only be delivered from Sweden on demand. So, shipping costs will apply.

The Maximera drawer systems sold in Germany for Austria also work in the FAKTUM carcass if you drill the appropriate holes in the carcass and the fronts. I don’t know if this works with the Italian ones you have in Austria.

I would leave the left corner unused. Instead of a 40cm (16 inches) cabinet with 5 drawers, you can fit a 60cm (24 inches) cabinet there, and on the window side a 60cm (24 inches) cabinet instead of 40cm (16 inches). In the other corner, place the corner cabinet as planned. No space needs to be left for handles on this corner cabinet because it will have a folding door.
Above the left corner, after the range hood cabinet, there would be two 60cm (24 inches) wall cabinets. That won’t look bad either.
Consider whether it would be more practical to make one of the 60cm (24 inches) base cabinets with internal pull-outs instead of drawers. The pull-out components are the same.

By the way, there are carcasses, doors, and pull-outs in 30cm (12 inches).

Hello
I am also from Vienna and bought my entire Metod kitchen at Ikea in Bratislava.
It is about a 1-hour drive away, and you can even take the city highway from the border in Slovakia without needing a vignette (toll sticker).
The kitchen was around one-third cheaper there, and delivery to Vienna cost us about 110 euros.
Ikea products bought in Bratislava can also be returned for cash at Ikea in Vienna, of course at the Slovak price.
However, I do not know how their after-sales service works there.
Another advantage is that Ikea in Bratislava is also open on Sundays.
Oh, and one more thing I wanted to ask: why does the old Ikea planner no longer work?
Best regards

Hello, thank you very much for your responses!

I assume the 120x60 cm (47x24 inches) corner cabinet is the same situation as the 90x90 cm (35x35 inches) one, right?

This afternoon I will try to draw the plan according to the IKEA expert’s suggestions. Thanks!
But with the new 60 cm (24 inches) cabinet by the window and the new 60 cm (24 inches) one instead of the 40 cm (16 inches) one, won’t I have problems with the handles, like not being able to open the drawers? Or am I missing something? Or are there prefabricated corner units that I can install? (If you know what I mean.)

According to IKEA themselves, the old Faktum planner is no longer active; only the Method planner is available now!

The layout of the 120x60 cm (47x24 inches) unit is impractical. With only one shelf inside, you have to reach deep into the cabinet.

You are correct about the handles near the blind corner. According to your plan, there should be enough clearance. The corner will be covered with two filler panels. First, a filler panel is attached to one cabinet, then a second filler panel is custom-cut to fit the other cabinet around the corner and meet the first filler panel. The joint can then, for example, be sealed with silicone.

Why do you want to make the fronts yourself?
