Hello everyone,

like many others, I found my way here a few weeks ago during my kitchen planning process.
We want to install an IKEA Bodbyn kitchen in our house. Not to save money, but simply because I don’t like what is offered in typical furniture stores—it doesn’t feel modern or fresh enough.
Still, I don’t want to miss out on Bosch / Siemens kitchen appliances.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU already!!!
With your help and all the forum posts, I have already been able to find a dishwasher and a cooktop-oven combination that should probably fit. As far as I understand, cooktop-oven combinations are standardized, and for the dishwasher, it was easy to find the right model for us in the XXL series.
I have chosen the following models:
Dishwasher by Siemens: SX65P082EU
Cooktop-oven combo by Bosch: HND22K200 (consisting of HEA23B157 and NKN645G17).

However, I need some help with the refrigerator.
I want one without a freezer or freezer compartment.
After a long search, I really like this Bosch fridge:

KIR51AD40
Appliance dimensions (H x W x D): 139.7 cm (55 inches) x 55.8 cm (22 inches) x 54.5 cm (21.5 inches)
Cabinet opening dimensions (H x W x D): 140.0 cm (55 inches) x 56.0 cm (22 inches) x 55.0 cm (22 inches)

I’m still not sure whether I want a tall cabinet of 2 m (6 ft 7 in) or 2.2 m (7 ft 3 in) height.
What should I pay attention to? Where can I find the cabinet opening dimensions for the different IKEA tall cabinet variations?

Are refrigerators installed directly on the cabinet floor?
If I have a door taller than 140 cm (55 inches), are there shelves available to make use of the space above or below the fridge?

How did you handle installing a „non-IKEA“ fridge (which models)? Maybe I will reconsider and choose a tried-and-tested one for the fridge as well.

Best regards, KüchenfeeS

Hello,

the dishwasher does not fit "out of the box."

The fridge is okay. You can place it directly on the floor at the bottom, but it is not necessary. Floors can be installed more or less as you like.
With a 140cm (55 inches) door, you can manage with a clever installation and then use custom fronts for the remaining space.

Thank you IKEA expert for your answer.

When I print the item list from the kitchen planner, the refrigerator is shown with a "measuring tape" symbol. Can I roughly tell from that that the door will be 140cm (55 inches)?

What do you mean by the dishwasher not fitting out of the box?

I found the following information from Sektionschef in another thread:

I’ve now installed the Siemens dishwasher SX778D01TE in my Metod kitchen.
I mounted an 80cm (31½ inches) solid front on the dishwasher door, so I don’t have any experience with split fronts.
However, there were still some issues:
1.) I mounted a handle on the top of the front. As mentioned elsewhere, you actually need to recess the heads of the handle screws on the inside; otherwise, they hit the top edge of the control panel when closing the dishwasher door. Since the handle screws don’t have countersunk heads, I had to enlarge the handle hole slightly with a bigger drill bit from the inside.
2.) The dishwasher installation manual states that you can adjust the weight of the front—and thus the ease of the door—at the bottom with 2 screws. But once the 80cm (31½ inches) front is mounted, you can no longer access these screws, as they are hidden behind the front. Since the door opens smoothly and stays in any position on my unit, I didn’t pursue the issue with accessing the screws further.
3.) According to the installation instructions, you need to attach a kind of rubber mat at the bottom of the dishwasher. This mat hangs down and is supposed to slide behind the toe kick when closing the dishwasher door. On my unit, this mat often comes loose and visibly hangs in front of the toe kick. The reason is that when the dishwasher door is fully open, the mat is pulled too far out from behind the toe kick because it is actually too short for an 8cm (3¼ inches) high toe kick.
I don’t yet know how to solve this problem. Either the mat needs to be glued a bit lower (I’m not sure if I can remove and reattach it) or something needs to be attached to the toe kick to raise it slightly.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you solve it?
Best regards,
Sektionschef

Or is there anything else I should consider?

The kitchen planner does not have information about appliances from other brands. If you do not choose IKEA, you will need to assemble all the components for the cabinet yourself.

The section manager has a different dishwasher model, specifically a large-capacity dishwasher with a Vario hinge, both of which are required to install the front panel without any tricks or modifications.

If I assemble the components for the refrigerator myself:
where can I select the height of the door? Do I need to pay special attention to anything for the Bodbyn front? Or do I need to measure directly at Ikea?
If so, I would just look for the next larger door over 140cm (55 inches)...

Thank you also for helping me with the dishwasher – I almost ordered the wrong one!
I will do some more research to find one with a variable hinge and a large capacity!

Thanks

Is this just about the layout in the planner? Nörgli is more familiar with that.

You can manage with 140 cm (55 inches) if the refrigerator is partly recessed into, for example, a drawer underneath. The next door is 180 cm (71 inches) high. This means you would always have to open the refrigerator to access a compartment behind it, which is quite inconvenient.
