I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

My vegetable bed is moving again. I’ve made the preparations this autumn, but no digging was necessary! First, I marked out the garden area. Long framing nails and barrier tape were really helpful. The size is about 8 x 6 meters (26 x 20 feet).
From our composter, I spread the coarse, not yet decomposed material thinly over the marked area. I got large cardboard boxes from our bike shop. They are really huge and just right for the purpose. These are now laid out overlapping on the area. Attention: remove all metal staples and any adhesive tape beforehand! Since it was a bit windy, I again used framing nails to roughly secure all the cardboard sheets. The cardboard ensures that the grass underneath decomposes. The vegetables can easily root through it.
On top of the cardboard, I spread the entire amount of soil from our composter. It was enough for a 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) thick layer! Again, be careful to remove the framing nails in time!
Finally, I added a thick layer of mulch so that the soil is not left exposed during the winter and small organisms can do their work. We have a nearby place where everyone brings their lawn clippings and leaves. I brought it all back to my garden 😀. Best mulch!!
And here are a few pictures.. Best regards, Steffi33

I'm not exactly an eco-friendly fanatic, but I don't want to eat food that grows in soil covered by cardboard boxes that are glued together and have been laying God knows where.Hmm.. who really knows what the vegetables from the supermarket were grown in.. 😎
