I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

@Fummelbrett! Very nice! I had an unusually large number of goldfinches this year. Right now, the bumblebees are more active than usual, but unfortunately, many wild bees froze, so I buy new ones every year. The first orchids will bloom soon, then there will be pictures!!!

Fummelbrett!22 Apr 2020 22:56@Vicky Pedia Thanks. The goldfinches have appeared here for the first time this year. Beautiful birds. There is nesting happening in the roof of the covered patio; I think those are common redstarts. There are lots of bumblebees around, and bees as well. Next door at my mother-in-law’s terrace, there is a sand bee mating area. Wild buzzing everywhere. Do you have outdoor orchids?
I’m currently trying to grow two standard lilac trees. One looks healthy, the other is drooping. I probably didn’t get enough root with it. Fortunately, lilacs grow here like weeds, so I have plenty of material for experiments.

@Vicky Pedia Do you have outdoor orchids?I have about 7 hectares (17 acres) of forest in the Middle Saale Valley. This includes a roughly 400 m² (4,300 sq ft) traditional orchard meadow with native orchids, such as early-purple orchids, lady’s slipper, and bee orchids. They will start blooming in early May. Yes, it’s something special, and I look forward to it every year. Fummelbrett! schrieb:

I’m currently trying to propagate two standard lilac trees. One looks healthy, but the other is drooping. I probably didn’t manage to get enough roots. Luckily, lilacs grow like weeds around here, so I have plenty of material to work with. Last year, I planted a lilac with yellow flowers. It took root. Let’s see if it will thrive.I hope my concern fits here, dear forum members.
Between the neighbors of the adjacent semi-detached house and our property, there is a privacy screen made of arborvitae. The hedge is dried out where our front doors face each other, and also in the corner at the end of the privacy screen. So, 4 trees are affected.
The tenants of that house have dogs that often come over to our lawn or gravel bed to relieve themselves.
At the tenant’s request, I contacted the landlord, who doesn’t want to take any action because he’s having issues with his tenants. He suspects the damage is caused by dog urine, as the dogs frequently do their business there. But I can’t judge that myself.
This situation is really annoying for us, so we’ve decided to put up our own privacy screen in front of the hedge along the entire length. It shouldn’t be too expensive but still have a “good” appearance.
What would you recommend?

I hope my question fits here, dear all... Not really, but since you’re here anyway...

What would you recommend in this case? It’s a bit unclear, but why don’t you start by installing a fence so the dogs don’t relieve themselves in your garden? Or is the fence supposed to provide privacy as well?
