I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Have you had good or bad experiences with lawn edging?
I don’t feel like installing deep concrete curbs again—such a tedious job.
Are shallower lawn edgings set in sand (possibly supported with a mortar wedge) any good, or do they not last long?

What about (Corten) steel strips as lawn edging? I find offers like those on eBay quite cheap (for example, 20m (65 feet) for 80€). Could this be a good option, or is it usually poor quality?

Unfortunately, we don’t have a large plot of land, so I attached the raised bed to the wall. Our daughter will be happy; a few cucumbers and 2-3 melons should definitely grow.

If you want to grow more, try looking up vertical gardening.

I like to have edging around my perennial beds. We don’t make a big fuss about it though. We simply laid inexpensive red paving stones in a sand bed, and that’s it. Of course, you shouldn’t repeatedly step on them, but they hold up well. Very cost-effective and easy to remove if you want to expand or remove the bed later!

This morning, I literally came across this:

Brown leopard slug crawling over rough stone slabs with moss and grass.

A tiger slug. By the way, it eats slugs. Gotcha!

Just use granite or concrete pavers 20cm x 20cm x 8cm (8 inches x 8 inches x 3 inches) or slightly smaller, set in concrete. For 20 m (65 feet), it took about 6 hours for two people using a spade and wheelbarrow. It’s doable, but a concrete mixer is almost a must.

The garden is coming to life... simply wonderful. Sorry for the flood of pictures, but I just love watching this every year again.
