I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Yes, very cool. Are they frost-resistant?

So-so winter hardy. There are winter-hardy varieties (the yellow and blue ones, I believe) that can survive outdoors over winter. You just need to provide some light frost protection, but not too much. Mine survived, but we also didn’t have a harsh winter here.

My wife loves wisteria. It thrives in sunny areas with nutrient-rich soil and is winter-hardy.
Possible drawbacks:
- not native
- somewhat toxic
- can grow very large

Wisteria is great! But it really grows like crazy. If you don’t want that or don’t have enough space, you need to prune it.

We have a rather old wisteria. It’s a nightmare. Its roots seem to spread out in a radius of 5m (16 feet), where almost nothing else grows well because it can’t handle the root pressure. It practically grows overnight and tries to create its own jungle.

How tall should it be? Wild sweet pea (Lathyrus sylvestris) if about 2m (6.5 feet) is enough.

Common clematis (Clematis vitalba) if you want it to grow larger.

That way, you’re also doing something good for nature.
