I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

After a few delays, at least part of the turf (600 sqm (6,458 sq ft)) was laid today… bushes, shrubs, and other plants are still missing, but it already looks like a garden 🙂

Just harvested and spontaneously invited neighbors for an Indian evening.
The leftovers will be used to make chili pastes and sauces.

Fresh vegetables: pumpkin, bell peppers, chili peppers, parsley, and yellow tomatoes on the table.

Looks good. We will have a garden area of 900 m² (9,688 sq ft) behind the house. Is rolled turf just as good as regular seeded lawn? And what should you watch out for with it?

I can’t say whether that is better (in terms of what?). There are different opinions on this, but using roll-out turf definitely goes faster and doesn’t have to compete with weeds right from the start.

Regardless of the type of lawn you choose, definitely don’t skip using mole nets. I thought it might be okay without them since there haven’t been any moles around here for the past two years… as soon as the loose soil and lawn are down, tunnels and mounds start appearing, leading from the edge of the property onto the lawn area 😡

In the long run, I’m fine with them as long as they feel comfortable there, but if they’re crawling under the sod now, the grass just won’t grow properly.

From your area, they supply rolled turf in three qualities and also provide their fertilizer, but only after building permit/planning permission and house construction.
You don’t want to end up needing the temporary living container from @motorradsilke, which should be available in a few weeks 😉

Wow... I just pulled a naked carrot man out of the ground.
