I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

So the father of my girlfriend hasn’t been stung enough. He has rheumatism and used to be a beekeeper.

How did you get the beekeeper?

My neighbor is a forester and gave me the contact.
If I hadn’t been able to reach them, I would have called the fire department, as they can also help mediate in situations like this.

The beekeeper benefits from it as well (a new colony).

During the construction phase, we had wild bees nesting on a soil edge of the excavation pit. A future neighbor "kindly" called the local authority to report this. An appointed beekeeper came without our knowledge and collected the bees at our expense, then released them in a forest nature reserve.

Well... it cost us 350 EUR. The bees are a specially protected species. If we had removed them ourselves (and got caught), the maximum fine could have been 50,000 EUR 🙄 Some kind of sand bee. The beekeeper included the species identification with the invoice. I told him that if I have to pay for this nonsense, I at least want to know who was occupying my excavation pit :p
A beekeeper friend confirmed this to us back then and said he could have captured and relocated the bees for us without any cost.

Once I found out what rare creatures the beekeeper had collected, I was quite pleased!
But the nice neighbor could at least have informed us beforehand. After I told him how much this little adventure cost us, his face just dropped. I think he thought he was going to get a medal from the local authority for reporting such rare animals 😀
