Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

Pauline_900119 Nov 2014 23:51Hello everyone,
today our quite large Metod kitchen was delivered in what felt like hundreds of flat packages. Our craftsmen burst out laughing. We took it quite calmly at first, but after reading this thread, we are a bit confused.
For one, we placed the dishwasher at the very beginning. We were not aware that the dishwasher does not have a cabinet frame. Now the end panel must be attached directly to the dishwasher. Is that even possible? Also, the sealing lip is adjacent to the end panel. Does the dishwasher support the weight of the countertop, or does the weight rest on the end panel?
We have Behjälplig and Vaglig to connect the front panels. Our current front panel is 77 cm (30 inches) high, and the plinth is slightly cut out because the door swings inward at the bottom. Maybe someone can estimate whether the dishwasher (Siemens) might fit. We would like to take it with us.
Thank you very much
Pauline

IKEA-Experte20 Nov 2014 00:23Hello,
No.
No.
Yes, a tall end panel must be cut to size and securely attached to the countertop and floor. It does not have to be an end panel; alternative solutions are also possible.
It should work with BEHJÄLPLIG, even without a cutout in the plinth. It may also be possible to install the appliance without BEHJÄLPLIG using the "Stefan method."
If craftsmen are assembling the kitchen and have no experience with BEHJÄLPLIG, you should study the assembly instructions carefully yourself and require the craftsmen to thoroughly review the assembly guides for both BEHJÄLPLIG and the dishwasher in advance.

Pauline_900120 Nov 2014 22:41Thank you for answering our questions. We are now trying to shift the kitchen slightly to the right by swapping an 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet for a 60cm (23.6 inches) one. Then we could place a 20cm (7.9 inches) cabinet to the left of the dishwasher, which would solve the issue with the free space on the left side of the dishwasher. We are assembling the kitchen ourselves and built the first base cabinet today. It went smoothly and was enjoyable. I will report back on the dishwasher installation. Pauline_9001
Good evening,
yes, I called a dealer near me.
They told me that this appliance will probably only be available in December. However, this was just a guess since the dishwasher was only added to their system on October 27th (basically only the name, as there are no further details).
I also contacted Bosch. According to the information in their databases, a model A with Vario hinge is not planned, but I was advised to call again in December.
I don’t know how it is with Neff.

IKEA-Experte22 Nov 2014 11:29December is almost here, and many METOD fronts are also not available for delivery. Have you checked the availability of the chosen front?
Good evening,
first of all, sorry for the late reply. I have almost all the fronts... the last ones are expected to arrive on December 23rd according to the order.
I'm really a bit desperate. I can get the mentioned Siemens dishwasher for €1149, but I'm not sure if the A is worth it...
Are there any A devices with a Vario drawer and hinge?
Can you think of any?
Regards
