Hello

I also want to install a Siemens dishwasher in my Metod kitchen, so I visited the Siemens showroom in Vienna yesterday for advice.
While I gained some insights, I am not entirely sure if the information from the Siemens consultant is accurate, so I wanted to share all the details here and open the topic for discussion. It would be great if others could also share their experiences.

Yesterday, after I told the consultant the cabinet height (800mm (31.5 inches)) and plinth height (80mm (3 inches)), he showed me a table that indicates whether appliances with heights of 81.5cm (normal) or 86.5cm (XXL) will fit into a particular niche height combined with a certain plinth height.
At the bottom in the legend you can see:
- white fields at 86.5 or light gray fields at 81.5: dishwasher fits directly
- dark gray fields: dishwasher fits only with the Vario hinge
- black fields: dishwasher fits only with the Siemens folding hinge (special accessory).

The table shows a white field at a niche height of 880mm (35 inches) and a plinth height of 80mm (3 inches). According to this, an XXL appliance should fit directly without Vario hinge, meaning the 800mm (31.5 inches) tall front panel can be mounted directly onto the dishwasher door (no additional aids needed).
The consultant said this table applies to all Siemens dishwashers with 60cm (24 inches) width, including fully integrated and semi-integrated models.
However, he also mentioned that even a 5mm (0.2 inch) deviation in the niche height, depending on how the feet of the Metod kitchen are adjusted, can cause problems.

Unfortunately, I only checked the dimensional drawings of the XXL models (86.5cm (34 inches)) without the Vario hinge on the Siemens website after I got home.

What caught my attention is:
The drawing lists the front height as 705–775mm (27.8–30.5 inches), but the table shows 705–800mm (27.8–31.5 inches), which is a difference of 25mm (1 inch)!
The minimum plinth height in the drawing is 90mm (3.5 inches), but the table shows 80mm (3 inches) for the XXL appliance (column 880).
So I wonder how it is possible that the column "880" with a plinth height starting at 80mm is marked white, indicating that every XXL model should fit without a Vario hinge?
Has anyone in this forum already reported that installing an XXL dishwasher without the Vario hinge and without extra supports is not possible?
I will definitely call the consultant to ask about this and point out the inconsistencies between the table and the dimensional drawing.
I’ll share any further findings here.

Best regards

Very strange. For all other niche heights except 880 mm (35 inches), the top white 86.5 field for niche height minus baseboard height results in the 775 mm (31 inches) specified in the dimension sketches. It seems illogical that it should be different for the niche height of 880 mm (35 inches).

I agree. Therefore, I would trust the dimension drawing more than this table.
Besides, Stefan wouldn’t have needed his method back then to install the device.
I will contact Siemens again and report back.

So, I called Siemens, and the problem is resolved:
As suspected, the table was incorrect!
I have now received a "correct" table, where the fields in column 880 are no longer white.

This raises a new question for me:
During the dishwasher consultation, I learned that semi-integrated models are generally about 100 Euro cheaper than comparable fully integrated models. However, Siemens does not offer any semi-integrated models with a vari-angle hinge at all.
Additionally, the cheapest Siemens model with a vari-angle hinge (SX76P030EU) does not have a cutlery drawer and is otherwise not very impressive. The next more expensive model (SX778D01TE) with a vari-angle hinge and cutlery drawer is already priced over 1000 Euro (too expensive for me). Therefore, I would prefer a semi-integrated model, the SX56N596EU.

The question I am asking myself is: can the Stefan method somehow be applied to semi-integrated models?
It should be possible to install a front panel (cut from a 10cm (5 inch) front) above the dishwasher front panel and place the dishwasher below it. Unfortunately, we have the white Bodbyn front, and I am not sure if such a shortened front panel would look good. However, the 10cm (5 inch) front does not have any profile, unlike, for example, the 20cm (8 inch) front...
Here is the dimension drawing of the semi-integrated dishwasher SX56N596EU:

A semi-integrated appliance cannot have a variable hinge, because the control panel is above the front panel and therefore the front cannot slide upwards when opened.
The total front height dimension is the same as for a fully integrated appliance. For this reason, the Stefan method should work. Consider carefully beforehand to what extent it depends on the actual plinth height. Someone has already shared more detailed thoughts on the measurements somewhere.
