I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

@Müllerin: I think it’s beautiful.
However, since we have a big issue with ticks this season here (next to meadow and forest), I wanted to ask how it is for you?

Katz has already brought in up to 80 larvae after being outside 🤨 Kids and neighbors have also been affected. That’s making me less enthusiastic about having a more natural garden at the moment...

Wow, after I had Lyme disease three years ago, my wife has developed a strong aversion to ticks. Behind our house, due to the construction site, there is also wild meadow and behind that forest. So we’ll be even more careful. Yesterday, while running, I applied insect repellent just to be safe.

😎 That must be the infamous nesting instinct. It apparently does something to you. Have fun raising them!

Ticks, yes, that was something.

Check yourself every evening.

I got all my ticks in well-maintained green areas of parks.

Since we moved to the countryside (surrounded by fields and meadows), we’ve had huge problems with ticks that our cats bring in.
What works reliably here are these spot-on treatments. Frontline is very expensive, but there are third-party products with the same active ingredient that are more affordable. They work excellently for the recommended 2 weeks; after that, the effect gradually decreases. When we start picking ticks off again, they get a new dose.
With two cats, this stuff unfortunately adds up in cost, even with the third-party brands.
