I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

@kati1337
May I ask which facing bricks you chose? Thanks 🙂

I still can’t believe that I’m willingly creating garden beds.
...
I even mow the lawn voluntarily ... 😀

Right now, I’m working on our hillside. Six stepping stones are already set into the slope. I’m heading to the hardware store again today.

My sister can’t believe I’ve become a “garden person” …

And now there is a sheet of membrane on top.
...

Are holes cut into the membrane before planting? How do you manage the excess membrane?

Sounds like it’s not that easy for you either.

Looking forward to pictures. I enjoy looking at gardens.

@kati1337 you’re not the first to catch the garden bug.
The perennial nursery Zeppelin has lovely planting bed ideas.
Don’t make the mistake of borrowing Kraut&Rüben and Mein schöner Garten from the library.

I usually just follow along quietly here and enjoy the pictures. But I have to say thanks for the tip about the Zeppelin perennial beds. They really look charming :-) I can already see them thriving in my front garden 😀

Progress is being made:

Garden path with square stone slabs through mulch, lined by trees; wooden fence in the background.

Half of the path is completed.

Do you mean for the house? Or for the garden bed edging?
For the house, it’s Röben Formback in a multi-colored flame finish.

For the garden bed – no idea. Also something rustic from Röben. ^^

Are holes then cut into the membrane and plants placed through them? How is the rest of the membrane managed?

Yes, exactly. You either need to plant very densely or use ground cover plants. However, I’m not sure how well they will grow on the embankment since the roots are planted under the membrane and the leaves grow above it. I hope the membrane will eventually be invisible, but I think that requires planting a lot or having patience.
