Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

Hello everyone,

I’ve read through the thread and first of all, thank you for the helpful tips and advice.

Today we ordered our kitchen including delivery and installation. We need a new dishwasher. I understand that I can use the Bosch dishwasher model SBE68TX06E, as it is an XXL appliance with a Vario hinge and is also on the list a few pages earlier.

Thanks also for the video on installing the front – we have planned VOXTORP handleless fronts. I am less skilled with DIY and had hoped that if the appliance fits, the front would be installed as well.

Today, during the order, I unfortunately heard that the installation service will not install the front. What are your experiences here? Not even for a tip or gratuity.

Many thanks in advance for any advice or experiences regarding the installation of the front.

Quick question for everyone who has already installed their fully integrated BSH dishwashers:
Did you receive the drilling template for attaching the front panel components to the dishwasher?
I have the Neff GX660, and supposedly there is no template included, even though it is mentioned in the user manual...
I definitely had to order it separately from BSH.

Hello everyone,
first post and I hope I’m doing everything right. I have already read through many of your posts over the past few weeks, but I still have a question:
For my new Ikea kitchen (planned but not yet ordered), I want to use a 45 cm (18 inches) narrow, fully integrated dishwasher. I had assumed that there is no XXL third-party appliance in a narrow size suitable for Metod. Today, I searched again and now wonder if this one might work?:
Siemens SR76T095EU, the title says “with Vario hinge.” The height is given as 815 mm (32 inches), but under “Downloads” and specifically “Dimensions,” it seems the appliance can actually be adjusted up to 875 mm (34 inches), or am I mistaken?

Thanks in advance for your assessment!!

Hello,
the height adjustment of the feet is not very important. The maximum front height is 750 mm (30 inches). This dishwasher can only be used if the front panel is installed with a 5 cm (2 inches) overhang and there is a 5 cm (2 inches) gap between the countertop and the appliance, which can be filled, for example, with wood.

Ah, I see, so that was the wrong assumption... too bad!

Today, I installed a Bosch XXL dishwasher without a variable hinge, with a front consisting of two panels, each 60 x 40 cm (24 x 16 inches), featuring a blankette handle. I also added a strip about 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick at the top, which isn’t visible when standing in front of it. (The countertop still overhangs slightly.)

The decorative panels in the corner are still missing.
