Hello,
Since our old dishwasher broke down, we bought an XXL dishwasher from Neff.
As we plan to get an IKEA kitchen (Metod) within the next 12 months, I’ve done some research and am now quite overwhelmed with information. Unfortunately, I can’t find clear details on whether this dishwasher can be fitted into our new Metod kitchen.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Best regards and thanks in advance
By the way, the appliance dimensions are: 86.5 cm x 59.8 cm x 55.0 cm (34.1 x 23.5 x 21.7 inches).
Adjustable plinth/base Horizontal and vertical
Plinth/base adjustable by (mm) 40-90 / 90-160 mm (1.6-3.5 / 3.5-6.3 inches)

Sektionschef9 Mar 2015 11:26OK, I just discovered the VÄLGJORD. It wasn’t available during our original kitchen planning. This will probably be the one we go with. I don’t want to unsettle you, but I would NEVER buy a dishwasher from IKEA. There are too many negative reports about IKEA appliances, even though they are actually made by brand manufacturers for IKEA and come with a 5-year warranty. However, new models do appear from time to time, so there is a chance they might improve.
Regarding the question about the variable hinge:
At BSH (Bosch Siemens Neff), ONLY the XXL appliances have the variable hinge. So, if you want to install a BSH appliance in Metod, it MUST be an XXL model.
I have now ordered the Siemens SX778D01TE, which is XXL with a variable hinge and includes a cutlery drawer. It costs 800 euros.
It’s a bit more expensive than the IKEA model, but it’s worth it to me.
Best regards,
Sektionschef

IKEA-Experte9 Mar 2015 15:20Two more notes.
1) There are also non-XXL appliances with a variable hinge, but their maximum front panel height is below 800 mm (31.5 inches) – so they are not suitable.
2) The minimum plinth height results from the minimum appliance height minus the maximum front panel height and usually does not need to be considered, because if this dimension is undershot, the appliance will not fit under the countertop anyway.
Siemens / Bosch / Neff: XXL with variable hinge means no unsolvable problems.

The appliances are all from Bauknecht and Electrolux, which are very reputable manufacturers. Almost all appliances are identical to corresponding "branded" models, just with the Whirlpool logo instead. Even "budget" appliances can be bought without any concerns, and such a long warranty is rarely offered by other manufacturers. Hearing things like “I once heard” or “a friend once read” really gets on my nerves. I am very, very critical, but you can buy electrical appliances from IKEA with confidence.
A dishwasher with a large dent from the scratch-and-dent section has been running smoothly for 10 years at my place, just like a refrigerator for 199.- at my friend’s.

Sektionschef9 Mar 2015 21:44Hello
You can believe me, before buying my Ikea kitchen I thoroughly researched customer reviews on Ikea’s electrical appliances online, as I initially planned to purchase the appliances from Ikea as well.
I actually found numerous reports from disappointed buyers of Ikea dishwashers at that time, and there is quite a bit written about this even here in the forum. Most complaints are about the dishwashers, while there is little information about Ikea’s other electrical appliances. However, this was several years ago, so it’s quite possible that the appliances have improved since then.
I bought the induction cooktop and extractor hood from Ikea myself, but never the dishwasher.
Best regards

Juliette W10 Mar 2015 09:28I feel the same way as Sektionschef.
For my new IKEA kitchen, I ordered an induction cooktop, a fridge/freezer combo, and a microwave from IKEA.
Dishwasher: due to frequent complaints about IKEA appliances online, I’m choosing one from Siemens. It feels too uncertain to test for myself whether the quality might actually be great. I already have Siemens appliances and am very satisfied—so why switch brands? I also don’t want any extra special hinges like Behjälplig for attaching the fronts.
For the oven, I wanted one with more features than the IKEA models, and I’m choosing a range hood that is sleeker and quieter than IKEA’s. I’m also not getting the sink from IKEA since I’m using the same one we already have. But that’s getting off-topic, sorry.

Edit: OK, I’ve now found the VÄLGJORD. It wasn’t available during our original kitchen planning. It will probably be the one we choose. We originally wanted to buy this appliance as well and were happy not to have to worry about mounting the fronts... Then I took a closer look at the appliance. Visually, I didn’t like the dishwasher at all. The quality of the cutlery tray is simply poor. I expected more from my 6-year-old Bosch dishwasher.
That’s why we had to deal with the issue after all.
With all the statements and reports, including here in the forum, I felt completely overwhelmed.
In the end, we went with the Siemens dishwasher. (See sektionschef)
We are very satisfied with the appliance, the installation of the single-piece front was easy, and the result looks perfect. See also in my gallery.
