MuenchnerKindl22 Aug 2016 15:57Hello everyone,
After many issues with kitchen studios (missed appointments, no further contact, outrageous prices, etc.), I have now decided to go with IKEA for my kitchen.
Today, a technician came with his advanced laser measuring device and measured the kitchen for me (unfortunately, it’s relatively small at about 4m² (43 sq ft) and quite awkwardly shaped).
I already have a rough sketch in mind of how I want it to look, but I still have to wait for the exact measurements for more detailed planning.
In short: an L-shaped layout with a compact oven and a 45cm (18 inch) dishwasher. This is where my actual questions begin.
My problem is that I don’t necessarily want to use IKEA appliances—I would prefer to go with Siemens or Miele, as I have relatively easy access to these brands through work. However, a friend who recently assembled an IKEA kitchen himself told me that there might be significant issues when installing dishwashers/ovens that are not IKEA brand.
The IKEA cabinets are apparently somewhat non-standard, and especially with his Siemens dishwasher, he ran into quite major problems fitting it, and now he can’t cover it with cabinet panels as intended.
Does anyone have experience with compact ovens (preferably a combination steam oven and regular oven) or 45cm (18 inch) dishwashers that fit well with IKEA cabinets? Ideally from Siemens or Bosch 🙂
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,

Schmidti8222 Aug 2016 17:13Hello,
short version: BSH with XXL with variable hinge fits, and Miele XXL does too.
Oven and similar appliances should not be a problem. For 450mm (18 inches) wide appliances, either install two stacked vertically.

MuenchnerKindl22 Aug 2016 19:43Hello Schmidt,
thank you for your reply, but I think there was a misunderstanding 🙂.
I was mainly asking about a 45cm (18-inch) dishwasher, as I couldn’t find any experience reports on that. I had already found the other thread.
Unfortunately, there will only be one oven as well – there simply isn’t enough space 🙁

IKEA-Experte22 Aug 2016 21:43Soon, Siemens will offer two models with a variable hinge. Unfortunately, the dimension sketches on the website are incorrect. Therefore, it is still difficult to determine the options for installing these in METOD.
Otherwise, only IKEA appliances fit.

MuenchnerKindl22 Aug 2016 21:54That is both good and bad, as I would actually prefer to "buy" relatively soon.
However, I assume that in case of doubt, the dishwasher can still be installed later on (so for now, just leave a "hole" open)..

IKEA-Experte22 Aug 2016 22:13I looked into it a bit more. There is only one model, the SR76T198EU. The maximum front height is specified as 750 mm (30 inches). It will probably be possible to install it if you leave a 5 cm (2 inch) gap between the appliance and the countertop, fill the gap, and let the front panel extend 5 cm (2 inches) above the appliance door.
