I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

We are also dealing with aphids on the sweet cherry tree, and on top of that, birds 😡

That’s why I put the cherry tree inside a net. Otherwise, we won’t have any cherries again like last year.

We also have a lot of strawberries, about 40 plants. Two children plus their visitors are happy about that.

You need to be careful with the nets. Many have mesh sizes that are too large, causing birds to get caught and die or suffer injuries.

Strawberry harvest as of today: 26.4 kg (58 lbs) 🤨 Just as a reminder… here is a photo (from April) of the area that produced this yield. These were cold-stored plants, planted last summer (150 plants). They already gave a small late harvest back then. This is now the second growing season.

We have 5 kilograms (11 pounds). However, it is from a strawberry field. Supporting local agriculture.

I also put a net around the currant bush. I used a blue one specifically so it’s clearly visible. Mesh size 2.5.
I will probably wrap the raspberry bush as well; the rest can be eaten – the serviceberries have almost been completely eaten...
