Norway spruce, spruce... are not desired.

One spruce does not make a forest...

I’m quite sure the etymology of the place name is entirely different:
Fichten = Germanic for “to fight” (compare English “fight”)
Walde = Germanic for “to rule”
So, where the fighters rule...

Alternatively: Where Waldis fight, meaning dogfights used to take place there.

Which brings us back to the willow I recommended, because as any amateur historian with popular scientific knowledge knows, the ancient Germanic tribes held honorable duels using willow branches.

So, plant yourself a willow!
