Hello everyone!

As some users have requested before, I’m now starting a new thread with the current planning of our detached house, which is about to be finalized.

These are the preliminary drawings for the building permit / planning permission application, and I have one last chance to review them and point out any issues.

It still seems to me that there is less than 1.20m (4 feet) of space between the two wardrobes in the dressing room. Or am I seeing this wrong? Apparently, the rooms on the left and right were overlooked and not adjusted accordingly.

Two Velux ceiling spotlights are still planned to illuminate the upper floor hallway.

In the basement, on the right side in the upper room, a window similar to the one on the left basement side is an option.

We still haven’t decided on the T30 fire-rated door to the garage, even though it is shown in the plans. Most likely, for safety reasons and the limited use of the kitchen at the other end of the house, we will eventually forgo it.

User 11ant pointed out that the right window in child’s room 2 is suboptimally positioned. However, this could still be changed after submitting the building permit / planning permission application. Our architect thinks moving the window to the left would negatively affect the house’s exterior appearance. We’ll have to see about that.

Except for the last fragments of the interior walls, everything is now in place. The roof frame is on top. I hope things will move forward from here.

The neighbor was politely but firmly asked today to remove their green waste from our garden. Now I’m curious to see what happens.

The neighbor has so far not complied with the request to remove his green waste from our property. I asked him again today to take care of it promptly. He then tried to argue that it originally came from our land and had grown over onto his side. However, he couldn’t provide a convincing explanation when we stood together at the property boundary. Supposedly, the area is at least 10cm (4 inches) beside the wire mesh fence, which is claimed to be entirely on our property (this will be checked thoroughly), and also part of our land. That is exactly where the trimmed tree stumps are now. How foolish would the previous owners have been to build a fence and leave enough space for the neighbor to freely work on their property? Behind the wire mesh fence there is also a dilapidated chain-link fence, which he says he doesn’t know if it marks the actual boundary or is entirely within his land. What nonsense!

Very frustrating.

My father and I will clear all vegetation along the entire property boundary over the next few days, so that nothing can grow over the border anymore and the area will be completely bare. After clarifying the ownership of the fences and determining the exact location of the boundary, we will install a full privacy screen along the wire mesh fence so that nothing can grow back and forth across it.

It will get interesting if he refuses again to move his green waste back onto his property as requested. I would probably just (with prior notice?) put it back onto his land. Simply ridiculous.

The neighbors had already noticed this and told me that he had simply thrown stuff from his property into our garden.

This behavior seems very childish and strongly suggests that you may have accidentally bought the land from his child or son-in-law (or that he has been living in the dream of having only undeveloped plots as "neighbors" on your side and that of the other new neighbors until his peaceful end). Maybe the pastor could have a serious talk with him? – On a rational level, I don't really see him as approachable. In any case, I think he is upset about something that only superficially or not at all relates to the currently apparent circumstances or facts.

Some people are simply bored and provoke others just to create some excitement in their own little world.

The other neighbors also suspect that he is upset. They believe this family is unhappy because they live in their more or less original 1960s house, while impressive new houses have been built or are being built on both sides of them. They assume it is a mix of dissatisfaction with themselves and envy.

It’s annoying that the construction company has to access their property next week to complete the garage. There will probably be more trouble because of that.

He must tolerate the right to carry out necessary work on neighboring properties (right of way). However, you are only allowed to exercise this right carefully. It’s best to take time off work and be there with a video camera as a precaution.
