Hello everyone,

Thanks to a Google search, I found this forum and have already read some very interesting posts.

We are currently putting together our first IKEA kitchen. Style: white with Bodbyn fronts.

Using the IKEA 3D planner and their “kitchen experts,” we have made good progress with the design, and now we are working on the “fine tuning.” Except for the refrigerator (HÄFTIGT), we would like to choose high-quality built-in appliances for our new kitchen from brands like Bosch, AEG, Neff, etc.

At the moment, I am looking for a new dishwasher... I have found many discussions on this forum, but none matched my “requirements,” or maybe I missed a suitable thread.

I hope you can help me... for our open kitchen, I am looking for a “very quiet” dishwasher with a flexible hinge (Vario hinge).

Unfortunately, most models start at around 43 dB... I’m not sure if this might be too loud... maybe you could share your experiences.

Currently, we have the semi-integrated Bosch SMI68M85EU SuperSilence with a rated noise level of 42 dB... which should theoretically be completely adequate since it really does run very quietly.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

EDIT: I have changed the thread title, as it is no longer just about the dishwasher.

Apart from routing the pipes and arranging the cooktop, sink, and dishwasher in a row, as well as lowering standard cabinets in front of the windows, I can't think of anything else.

I think I won’t be able to avoid adjusting the window height. If the design is implemented as posted above, the following options come to mind:

a) Remove the old window, build up the wall by 10-15cm (4-6 inches), and install a smaller new window. Disadvantage: high costs (1-1.5k)
b) Remove the old window, install a new window with a lower transom and a 50-100mm (2-4 inch) frame extension. Disadvantage: about half the cost of option a)
c) Order the kitchen with smaller legs for installation and keep the height under 86cm (34 inches). Disadvantage: countertop remains deep, no XL dishwasher possible

I think the best option would be b), because then I get MY desired kitchen, the preferred countertop height, the XL dishwasher, and no hassle!

Since I’m buying a new kitchen anyway—and not every five years—ALL aspects, especially those of the kitchen, should harmonize.

Anything else doesn’t really make sense to me. I would probably regret not implementing it that way later.

Or what do you think?

Can you think of any other possibilities?

Thanks again for all your great support here!

Option c can be ruled out because the cabinet must not be taller than 82 cm (32 inches). A 2 cm (1 inch) plinth height is too low. In addition, the front height would still be 80 cm (31.5 inches), and there is no dishwasher available for that size.

Have you ever considered placing the sink and dishwasher to the right of the oven and leaving the area under the window free? Since you already have a dead corner, you wouldn’t lose much space. If the water connections are under the window, which I find unlikely, they could be covered with a panel about 10cm (4 inches) deep, using appropriate access doors for maintenance.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick update. I am currently gathering some quotes for the window. It’s certain that a new window with a transom needs to be installed.

@Robi - We would like to keep the sink exactly where it is.

As soon as I get a good offer, the window will be replaced immediately...

In the meantime, I’m comparing electrical appliances. My goodness, there are so many options... it’s hard to keep track. Do you possibly have any advice on this?

As mentioned at the beginning, except for the refrigerator, I want to install high-quality appliances.

Interested?

Here it is again:
"Dishwasher for free!
Let’s be honest: washing dishes is a hassle! That’s why, until June 12, 2016, when you purchase a kitchen worth at least 4,000 euros (approximately 4,300 USD) we will give you the built-in dishwasher Skinande for free. For smaller kitchens, you can alternatively choose the narrower medelstor model.

*This offer is valid only while supplies last and for kitchen purchases of at least 4,000 euros (approximately 4,300 USD) excluding services at our IKEA stores (not available at IKEA Hamburg-Schnelsen and IKEA Frankfurt). Online, this offer is only available through the kitchen planning service, expert check, or the service “Buy online and pick up in store.” For this purchase option, due to technical reasons, the full amount including the dishwasher will be charged at checkout and then refunded via the selected payment method after pickup. This offer is not available with the standard online shopping process (adding the product to the cart)."
As mentioned at the beginning, except for the refrigerator, I want to install high-quality appliances.

Choose the Berbel extractor hood and the rest from Miele.
