Hello everyone, I am currently assembling my new kitchen using the IKEA Metod system and have chosen a Metod dishwasher for it. My question is how to best integrate this dishwasher into the kitchen setup. Specifically, I want to know which dimensions I need to follow, how to secure the dishwasher properly, and what to pay attention to when connecting the water supply and electrical power. Has anyone had practical experience with integrating the IKEA Metod dishwasher into their installation? I want to make sure everything is stable and that there are no issues during assembly or later use. Thanks in advance for your advice!

An important point that is often overlooked is the protection of the electrical connection. The IKEA Metod dishwasher requires a properly protected socket with grounding.

Please make sure to follow these instructions:
- Use a socket with a residual current device (RCD) / ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)
- Do not overload the electrical circuit
- Route cables neatly to avoid contact with water

If you follow these guidelines, you will avoid most hazards.

Short and to the point:
- Check dimensions: 60x80x55 cm (WxHxD)
- Use screws in the Metod cabinet sides
- Water supply via angle valve
- Connect power directly or have an outlet near the appliance
- Adjust the front panel and level using the height-adjustable feet

This works reliably this way.

Hey, I can only say: it’s really fun when everything fits perfectly! Installing the dishwasher into the Metod cabinet is great because everything is carefully designed. The adjustable feet are excellent, as well as the option to precisely align the front panel.

Just be patient and give it a try – perfection takes time 😉 And if anything gets stuck, ask here, we’re happy to help!

I would like to add that you definitely should check the depth of the dishwasher as well.

That is exactly a point I also wanted to add. The depth of 55 cm (22 inches) is indeed quite tight—especially if you have a thicker countertop. You need to measure carefully to ensure the dishwasher still fits well under the countertop without protruding too far at the front.

Also, make sure there is enough space at the back for the connections and ventilation, as this can otherwise cause problems quickly.

I can confirm that. In my case, we had to slightly sand down the back of the countertop to fit the dishwasher. I also checked the sealing strips because otherwise the door wouldn’t close properly.

So, be patient and make small adjustments if needed. It’s worth it.

Finally, a note on sustainability and reparability: IKEA Metod dishwashers are designed with a modular structure, allowing individual parts to be replaced fairly easily. I find this very positive compared to many other appliances that often need to be completely replaced.

A well-integrated dishwasher in the Metod system therefore not only offers functional advantages but also benefits for future servicing and lifespan. For this reason, it is worth considering the installation position to ensure good access to the back and connections.
