Hello everyone,
Thanks to a Google search, I found this forum and have already read some very interesting posts.
We are currently putting together our first IKEA kitchen. Style: white with Bodbyn fronts.
Using the IKEA 3D planner and their “kitchen experts,” we have made good progress with the design, and now we are working on the “fine tuning.” Except for the refrigerator (HÄFTIGT), we would like to choose high-quality built-in appliances for our new kitchen from brands like Bosch, AEG, Neff, etc.
At the moment, I am looking for a new dishwasher... I have found many discussions on this forum, but none matched my “requirements,” or maybe I missed a suitable thread.
I hope you can help me... for our open kitchen, I am looking for a “very quiet” dishwasher with a flexible hinge (Vario hinge).
Unfortunately, most models start at around 43 dB... I’m not sure if this might be too loud... maybe you could share your experiences.
Currently, we have the semi-integrated Bosch SMI68M85EU SuperSilence with a rated noise level of 42 dB... which should theoretically be completely adequate since it really does run very quietly.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards
EDIT: I have changed the thread title, as it is no longer just about the dishwasher.

Hey, thanks for your reply. And did the dishwasher fit into the IKEA Metod cabinet without any issues or modifications? The dishwasher does not go inside the cabinet; only the front panel is mounted on it. BSH minimum height 86.5 cm (34 inches). Vario hinge = fits Metod.
IKEA expert, thanks for the information. I knew there had to be a flaw in my reasoning somewhere.
Yes, I saw that the XXL dishwashers have a height of 86.5cm (34 inches). I still have the problem that our kitchen window is about 85.5cm (34 inches) high... If a countertop is supposed to go on top of the dishwasher, it just won’t fit. Or am I missing something else? That would bring me to at least around 90.3/90.4cm (35.5 inches).
I think I won’t be able to avoid either replacing the window or building it up.

IKEA-Experte13 Apr 2016 12:17The countertop is supported not by the dishwasher but by the adjacent cabinets. With the 8 cm (3 inch) high METOD plinth, the countertop height even reaches 91 cm (36 inch) or 92 cm (36 inch).
When considering the countertop height, keep in mind that there may be installation issues with the cooktop if it is located above the oven and the countertop is less than 4 cm (1.5 inch) thick.
Some people use shorter legs from third-party suppliers under the cabinets to ensure that the opened window is still above the countertop level.
Before replacing a window (unless it is old and needs to be renewed soon), I would prefer not to buy a kitchen from IKEA. There are many kitchen manufacturers, and the price differences compared to IKEA are no longer as significant as they once were.

Oh man... well, the window itself is already modern, no wood or anything like that. The previous owners had it raised by several centimeters, but unfortunately, that's still not enough for us at the moment. Or another idea I had is maybe using shallower feet for the cabinets.
I had looked at other suppliers before, and besides the Ikea Bodbyn kitchen, we also liked the Nobilia Chalet. The first estimate (U-shape, about 11–12 meters (36–39 feet)) was around 15,000–16,000 euros! That's quite a big price difference compared to the Ikea kitchen, which was about 5,000 euros less (including the refrigerator). Then there are also the dishwasher, oven, and induction cooktop. But I'm still well below that budget.

IKEA-Experte13 Apr 2016 12:52To what extent the paintwork at Nobilia is of higher quality, I cannot assess.
Is the 85.5cm (34 inches) the minimum height of the lower edge of the opened window?

Are the 85.5 cm (33.7 inches) the minimum height of the bottom edge of the opened window?Yes, it is ... and the sink is also placed in front of it, so the window would only be tilt-opened as it is now, which is not a problem.
The window size is 1380 x 1265 mm (54.3 x 49.8 inches) ...
You could cut the countertop slightly around the window so that the window can be tilted open without any issues. If the window is closed, there would be a visible gap, which probably wouldn’t look good. And I don’t know of any flexible countertop edging strips ...
Another idea would be to install a new window 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) smaller and build up the wall accordingly. The roller shutter would need to be adjusted ... altogether, that would probably cost around 1000–1500 € (euros).
