Hi,

is it possible to fit this washing machine

into a similar

cabinet, so that a refrigerator could be placed on top and the washing machine below?

The same question applies to this cabinet

could you fit an oven, a microwave AND a dishwasher from IKEA in the lower section?

My new kitchen is unfortunately quite narrow and the washing machine has to be in the kitchen because of the only water connection. However, if it were possible to arrange all these appliances inside two tall cabinets, that would help me a lot.

What you could also do, of course...
if you have the washing machine below with a worktop, build this cabinet on top of it and fix it to the wall.

Without feet.
Place the refrigerator there, and make sure to consider ventilation at the bottom (for example, like in one of my pictures in the thermo cabinet). You will also need to attach another shelf from a standard cabinet on top and cut out ventilation at the top, then it fits. Just an idea...
You could do the same with the dishwasher and install the oven and microwave in the cabinet above in a similar way.

hey,

thanks for the idea, Robi, that could work! I’ll think it over.

Another question: For these built-under appliances from third-party manufacturers, like your dishwasher, how do you fit the IKEA fronts onto them?

That was quite simple.
The Bosch appliances come with a pictorial manual.
What you might need is a 35mm (about 1.4 inches) Forstner bit (approximately 8–10 euros at the hardware store).

The doors on the refrigerator and freezer use the higher-quality fixed-door system, which fits perfectly with the IKEA cabinets (the IKEA staff won’t tell you this, of course). This way, you save the IKEA hinges for the overlay door system.
Oh, and if you want to do it that way, please note the following:
The dishwasher (including the IKEA ones) requires cabinets or fixed panels on both sides, as it is screwed or fastened at the sides to these. That’s why I placed the 20cm (8 inches) pull-out cabinet to the left against the wall. It’s great for storing dishwasher cleaner and laundry detergent. You could put it between the washing machine and dishwasher, and above it you could also install a wine rack or something similar for a consistent look, but that’s optional.

A floor plan with dimensions would be helpful...
Best regards, robi

Hello,

a small addition: when installing a Bosch/Siemens dishwasher at the end of a kitchen cabinet run, an extra mounting bracket must be installed (at least for the model mentioned). The installation manual is available online from Bosch.
With other manufacturers, additional parts are sometimes not required (e.g., Miele); I do not know how it is with the IKEA appliances.

Note: For the washing machine, not the dishwasher.

Hey,

if you’re really interested, here’s my current planning status:
I think you unfortunately need to leave some space behind the appliances for water hoses, right? Therefore, the countertop would be deeper than 60cm (24 inches).

For now, I’ve focused on a sensible layout for the base cabinets and struggled with it for a while, but I think it will work now.

A family friend who is an interior designer strongly advised against wall cabinets in that room because they would hang in front of the window, make the room feel smaller, and we want to hang industrial pendant lamps over the countertop. Instead, he suggested installing a floating cabinet structure on the right wall where all the stuff like pasta, flour, rice, salad bowls, microwave, etc. could be stored. That could work, but there would only be about 85cm (33 inches) of space between the countertop and this shelf, which feels a bit cramped to me.

The actual dining table will be in another room, where we could also imagine a buffet with plates and dishes inside.
Still, in my opinion, some glasses and small bowls belong in the kitchen.

What do you think? The minimum I would do is some kind of shelf above the backsplash for a few essentials, with an LED strip underneath.
A range hood will also go there; then it’s a question of whether it should be in a cabinet or mounted separately on the wall.
What’s your take on that?

Ideally, I would have a 60cm (24 inch) dishwasher, but we have to make sure there’s still some space to the right next to the window since it extends lower than the countertop height, and it would look very odd if it was built in there.

Still, I’m not 100% sure whether to put cabinets in the front area or to keep the back as free as possible. Mhhhhh
