ᐅ Feedback on the Ikea Kitchen

Hello everyone,
things are moving forward for us now. After visiting quite a few kitchen outlets in the past, we finally decided on IKEA. Mainly because it’s affordable – secondly, because the kitchen salespeople were almost driving me crazy in the end (a $1000 discount because the sun is shining…). IKEA doesn’t offer any consultation at all… not great either, but still better than that.
We were somewhat fixed on the layout because of the windows… now we are even more set because of the utility connections… The screed is already in place.
The cabinet fronts are Hyttan and Bodbyn – we will buy the appliances separately.
We thought the waste bin should be a pull-out unit under the sink.
A quick note about the tall cabinet row (since it’s not that visible) on the left side of the plan:
60cm (24 inches) cabinet, oven, 60cm (24 inches) cabinet, refrigerator, small freezer.

We would love to hear your opinion. Are there any things we absolutely should change? Since neither of us really has a sense for design, we would appreciate any tips or comments on that as well.
Thanks and best regards

I mentioned this in another thread, but it fits well here: You’ll never use the bar (except in romantic daydreams) — especially if the dining table is so close by.

In our current rental house, we also have a bar and use it almost every day. For us, it’s actually the social hub of the home.
Our kitchen layout is similar to the original poster’s.

I would make sure at least one pull-out drawer near the cooktop is tall enough to hold oil bottles. Unfortunately, we missed this in our planning. Now the bottles are stored in the wall cabinet to the right of the cooktop, which I’m not very happy about.

I would consider whether it might be possible to install a wall partition (e.g., drywall) to the right of the tall cabinets – this could create a nice visual separation between the kitchen and the living room.

I can also add that I don’t really like having the trash under the sink in the corner. We currently have the sink with the trash underneath in the corner and find it quite annoying. When one person is washing, no one else can get to the trash or the water because everything is so cramped in the corner.

In the 60s beside the dishwasher? You’re right about that. People are probably more often standing at the sink than at the stove. We also once had a version where the counter was pushed out another 60cm (24 inches) so that the base cabinet with the waste system wouldn’t be in the way... but for me, the kitchen became too prominent then.

Waste management is definitely still an issue.

I had also considered drywall construction, but my wife is rather not keen on it.

In my opinion, the sink is placed too close to the countertop. I would position it as centrally as possible under the window.
The top row feels overwhelming. The front should be broken up to make it appear less bulky.
Personally, I would save the money spent on the countertop. For just the kids’ breakfast cereal, that expense seems too high. It would be better invested in a range hood that you won’t hit your head on. A hood with an angled, all-around extraction.

The IKEA price probably doesn’t include assembly, right?
Which appliances are planned to be installed?
What is the actual overall savings compared to a kitchen planned by a specialist retailer (all in)?

Without installation – that would cost around €1800 at Ikea.
The appliances cost about €3700.
The savings are therefore approximately €2000. (13,000 € - 1800 € - 3700 € - 5500 €)
The quality of both is unclear.
