Hello everyone,
things are moving forward for us now. After visiting quite a few kitchen outlets in the past, we finally decided on IKEA. Mainly because it’s affordable – secondly, because the kitchen salespeople were almost driving me crazy in the end (a $1000 discount because the sun is shining…). IKEA doesn’t offer any consultation at all… not great either, but still better than that.
We were somewhat fixed on the layout because of the windows… now we are even more set because of the utility connections… The screed is already in place.
The cabinet fronts are Hyttan and Bodbyn – we will buy the appliances separately.
We thought the waste bin should be a pull-out unit under the sink.
A quick note about the tall cabinet row (since it’s not that visible) on the left side of the plan:
60cm (24 inches) cabinet, oven, 60cm (24 inches) cabinet, refrigerator, small freezer.
We would love to hear your opinion. Are there any things we absolutely should change? Since neither of us really has a sense for design, we would appreciate any tips or comments on that as well.
Thanks and best regards

In the 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet under the counter, we were thinking of placing the base cabinet with the waste sorting system – it could be positioned in front of the sink, keeping the dishwasher and trash within easy reach. We're still a bit unsure about where to place the cutlery drawer.
Alternatively, we considered removing the 40cm (15.7 inches) cabinet between the sink and the counter to create more space and pull the counter further away from the room. If we keep the 40cm (15.7 inches) cabinet, we would have 4.4m (14.4 feet) for the dining table, which should be enough, right?
Since the IKEA laminate doesn’t really match the oak fronts, we are now thinking of an oak solid wood countertop.
Alternatively, we could go for a dark brown-black wood-effect countertop and coordinate everything else accordingly:
As another option, I also tried an “island solution”:

An 80cm (31.5 inches) base cabinet with a waste sorting system is quite wasteful in terms of space.
I would consider placing the cabinet with the waste system under the sink and use the 40cm (16 inches) cabinet next to the blind corner for this purpose. Possibly choose a sink without a draining board or use a sink cabinet and swap the 40cm (16 inches) cabinet again.
Then the 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet in the peninsula will fit cutlery, dishes, and so on perfectly.

Unfortunately, the problem is that the water connections are there now, so replacing them probably wouldn’t fit by a narrow margin…
We have a lot of waste—paper, glass, recycling bags (yellow bags), household waste—do you really think an 80-liter (21-gallon) bin is excessive? Household waste and recycling bags definitely need to be a certain size here (it feels like the kids, for example, each drink a liter (34 ounces) of milk every morning and go through two boxes of cereal). Looking at ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/S19017618/, there would be something for that somewhere.
Is it a bad idea to just put the cutlery directly over the trash? (The trash would only be in the bottom bin anyway.)

@BeHaElJaIt makes particular sense to place organic and residual waste bins directly under the countertop, as these types of waste often occur during food preparation. A 40cm (16 inch) base cabinet is sufficient for this.
Paper and recycling waste can then, for example, be integrated into the sink cabinet. At Ikea, this would be a sink cabinet. ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/S79146556/#/S39146539
