Hello
I also want to install a Siemens dishwasher in my Metod kitchen, so I visited the Siemens showroom in Vienna yesterday for advice.
While I gained some insights, I am not entirely sure if the information from the Siemens consultant is accurate, so I wanted to share all the details here and open the topic for discussion. It would be great if others could also share their experiences.
Yesterday, after I told the consultant the cabinet height (800mm (31.5 inches)) and plinth height (80mm (3 inches)), he showed me a table that indicates whether appliances with heights of 81.5cm (normal) or 86.5cm (XXL) will fit into a particular niche height combined with a certain plinth height.
At the bottom in the legend you can see:
- white fields at 86.5 or light gray fields at 81.5: dishwasher fits directly
- dark gray fields: dishwasher fits only with the Vario hinge
- black fields: dishwasher fits only with the Siemens folding hinge (special accessory).
The table shows a white field at a niche height of 880mm (35 inches) and a plinth height of 80mm (3 inches). According to this, an XXL appliance should fit directly without Vario hinge, meaning the 800mm (31.5 inches) tall front panel can be mounted directly onto the dishwasher door (no additional aids needed).
The consultant said this table applies to all Siemens dishwashers with 60cm (24 inches) width, including fully integrated and semi-integrated models.
However, he also mentioned that even a 5mm (0.2 inch) deviation in the niche height, depending on how the feet of the Metod kitchen are adjusted, can cause problems.
Unfortunately, I only checked the dimensional drawings of the XXL models (86.5cm (34 inches)) without the Vario hinge on the Siemens website after I got home.
What caught my attention is:
The drawing lists the front height as 705–775mm (27.8–30.5 inches), but the table shows 705–800mm (27.8–31.5 inches), which is a difference of 25mm (1 inch)!
The minimum plinth height in the drawing is 90mm (3.5 inches), but the table shows 80mm (3 inches) for the XXL appliance (column 880).
So I wonder how it is possible that the column "880" with a plinth height starting at 80mm is marked white, indicating that every XXL model should fit without a Vario hinge?
Has anyone in this forum already reported that installing an XXL dishwasher without the Vario hinge and without extra supports is not possible?
I will definitely call the consultant to ask about this and point out the inconsistencies between the table and the dimensional drawing.
I’ll share any further findings here.
Best regards

IKEA-Experte25 Oct 2015 11:09Thank you for the pictures. I have three more questions.
1. Are the screws from Vaglig suitable, or are shorter ones needed?
2. How much did you pay for the milling out?
3. Did you seal the milled-out areas, and if so, with what?

Thanks for the pictures. I have three more questions.
1. Do the screws from VAGLIG fit, or are shorter ones needed?
2. How much did you pay for the routing work?
3. Did you seal the routed areas, and if so, with what?Hi! The whole thing cost 75 € (about 80 USD). Well... I used the screws from VAGLIG (product no. 100347), but you need to pre-drill the holes carefully first. I also used standard wood screws, 4/12 mm (about 5/0.5 inch), but all the screws were too long for me because I routed the panels too deep (8 mm deep (0.3 inch)). Only route as deep as the thickness of the VAGLIG rail (about 5 mm (0.2 inch)? I’m not exactly sure). Then I used washers. I did not seal the routed areas, but that would be a good idea—you could probably do that with waterproof wood glue.

Horst Ewald15 Nov 2016 16:52Hello,
I am new here and have almost the same problem.
Since I need to install two 40cm (16 inches) fronts and the fastening point of the Siemens Vario hinge starts at about 21cm (8 inches) from the top, a flat steel bar should provide enough stability, right?
Thank you in advance,
Horst

Hello, I have purchased a Siemens SX778X16TE and want to integrate it into the new Metod kitchen.
The dishwasher has a Vario hinge and is an XXL model. This means the plinth/front height should fit. However, I have three questions:
- What about the blankett handle? It is screwed behind the front panel. I have read somewhere that it can scratch the dishwasher. Does anyone have any tips? Should washers be placed under the brackets that are screwed into the front to create some distance from the dishwasher? Will it still slide properly then?
- I would like to screw together three fronts for a uniform look. For this, you need to use VAGLIG. Unfortunately, this adds quite a lot of thickness and probably won’t fit. Does anyone have experience with this? Or would it be better to use a single front panel instead?
- The Metod front is 597mm (23.5 inches) wide, but according to Siemens, the front should be 594mm (23.4 inches) wide. Do you think this makes a difference? If I align the holes for the brackets in the center anyway, everything should fit, right?
Thanks in advance
Benny

IKEA-Freund22 Nov 2016 10:58Hello Benny,
regarding your second question: just take a look a few posts above, where hofiak shared his experience (routing tracks) (pictures are in the gallery). However, this is not possible with handleless fronts, as they are very thin in the area of the grip profiles.

IKEA-Freund
