Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.

Ok, it’s all a matter of personal taste, but I would still prefer to have the daily groceries delivered quickly and conveniently to the place where they are needed every day! If the second door from the carport to the storage room becomes more important than having a window in the bedroom, then I declare this forum a failure.

Our first architect wouldn’t even lift a finger without a signed contract covering service phases 1-4. The initial meeting was just a consultation and gathering of basic information. Just so you don’t have too high expectations about the appointment. We haven’t signed anything yet, but we want to build with the general contractor if everything works out. This just goes to show that things don’t always follow the same process everywhere!

A general contractor usually presents a design that somehow matches your space requirements. Sometimes these are adapted model homes, and sometimes the salesperson plays Sims.

What is the current situation?
Is there already a design?
Independent architect or from the general contractor?
