Hello everyone,

we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.

On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.

In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.

I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

Ground floor plan: open living and dining area, kitchen, bathroom, hallway, and two rooms.

Apartment floor plan: kitchen, living room, hallway, and bedrooms with dimensions.

Roughly the same.
Maybe arrange the staircase differently so that the hallway can be separated from the entrance by a door. I think it lacks privacy as it is.

So, extend the hallway further? What would be an appropriate width for a "decent hallway," considering the staircase is already 1 meter (3.3 feet) wide, plus the balustrade...

No, not longer. It would be sufficient if the hallway is separated starting from the bathroom door.
And you wanted to reduce the size a bit. The children's rooms are quite large as they are.

If the staircase is reduced and changed, the basement level will also need to be redrawn.

Ours is very spacious. I’ll have to measure it. I estimate about 1.2 meters (4 feet) next to the staircase.

And how is that supposed to work with only one possible floor? Only a single-story design is allowed!

I understand, but I find it more reasonable when suggestions are also made, like you are doing right now. Thanks again for that!

It feels like on every page of this thread, people keep saying that you should swap the levels.

But that’s exactly what I’m doing...????

So roughly the ground floor, for example?

Even though I assume the architect’s design will be different. Just something to think about. The dressing room and bedroom look quite spacious in the screenshot.

But they’re not, so don’t be fooled,

- If a bed is 2m x 2m (6 ft 7 in x 6 ft 7 in), you only have just over 50cm (20 inches) of space on each side. That’s about the width of a computer keyboard.
- The same applies to the dressing room: the wardrobes are 2 x 66cm (26 inches) including baseboards. That leaves you only 1m (3 ft 3 in) of space to move around.

Yes, now
You complained that you were not being helped constructively!
But anyway, it’s going well now
