Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.
I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

I just wanted to mention it. You don’t want your house to end up more expensive than mine.
The development plan specifies a single story. The architect can’t just change that. So why do you leave the meeting and she draws you three floors?
I just want to understand! As stated:
- Basement: Allowed to protrude 1.40 m (4.6 feet) above ground level—so it’s implemented this way and doesn’t count as a full floor.
- Ground floor: Full floor.
- Attic floor: Designed so it doesn’t qualify as a full floor.

I will post the basic information here again shortly, that goes without saying! Apparently not: You have been here long enough to know that this information belongs in post #1, not in post #40 :-(

We had 8 other quotes available for comparison. Don’t forget that large differences between quote amounts are more likely a sign of inexperienced tendering rather than proof of effective competition.

Don’t forget that large differences in bid amounts usually indicate inexperienced tendering rather than being “proof of effective competition.”The current bid is definitely not the "cheapest"!
At the time, I took the effort to list and compare all the items from each supplier in an Excel sheet. For example, if a bid was missing the multi-utility house entry or the retaining walls, I included the expected costs for those items in my calculations to make a "fair" comparison possible.
