ᐅ Closet under the stairs or small storage room

Hello everyone,

My partner and I are starting construction on our (hopefully) dream home at the beginning of next year. We are quite satisfied with the floor plan now, but we’re unsure how to best use the space under the stairs. Our initial idea was to have a door on the ground floor to use the area as a small storage room. (I hope this is clear in the floor plan.)

Looking on Pinterest, I’ve seen that many have built a built-in wardrobe under the stairs. What do you think makes more sense? Does anyone have something similar?
We like both options, so now we’re having a hard time deciding...

We had a storage room built by the drywall contractor – it was the better choice for us.

Creating a storage room under the stairs only makes sense if you have enough space in front of the stairs.
In your case, I would recommend a closet. It offers significantly more storage space.

Approximately how many square meters (square feet) of storage space do you have there?

We are having pull-out cabinets (rolling carts) customized by the staircase builder for a similar staircase, each about 70 cm (28 inches) wide, as well as drawers built on the shallow side.

This way, we can fully utilize the entire space under the stairs.

The cabinets will have shelves and wardrobe rods inside, intended to be used as a storage area for cans and similar items, as well as a shoe cabinet and clothing storage.
