Hello... we have the following issue. Since we don’t want too many different window heights in the house and also don’t find the transition from a 130cm (51 inches) sill height to a low window in the same room or at the junctions particularly attractive, we are facing the above-mentioned problem. Actually, I’m not even sure if it’s really a problem.

West elevation of a two-story house as an architect’s design drawing with windows and entrance door.

South elevation of a modern building with garage on the left, multiple windows and flat roofs.

North elevation of a modern building, two levels, rows of windows and dimension lines.

East elevation of a modern house with flat roof, large window front and doors.

130 because we wanted that height in the bathroom, or at least a bit higher.
Yes, that makes sense (and looks nice) if you use the sill height as a privacy screen. However, many would prefer some outside view from the toilet,
and lighting above the washbasin is also a good idea. Window over the bed… hmm. Bathroom and bedroom facing south… hmm… But okay, this isn’t a floor plan discussion.
The how and why isn’t really clear to me.

Your question about how it looks from the outside: it looks good.

Yes, what I am somewhat afraid of is what has already been mentioned here... too little light... maybe feeling confined... and regretting it later.

Hello, have you ever looked at a room with these windows? Or tried taping them off at home, for example? And then just let it settle for a few days.

I find the height too low for a horizontal window and too high for a standard window. That leaves a lot of wall space!

There are great options for windows with external blinds or similar systems. With these windows, you lose all that.

Does the bedroom have two windows each with a sill height of 130cm (51 inches)? I can’t imagine it feeling very cozy or bright.

Best regards

The window is 130cm (51 inches) above the floor and 265cm (104 inches) long, 90cm (35 inches) high... why wouldn’t roller blinds be possible there?

That’s not what I meant. I meant closing a large or larger window while still keeping the room nice and bright.

There are probably many options for this, such as venetian blinds, pleated blinds, etc. The window size cannot be changed anymore.

But since you don’t like having different sizes on one side, there probably isn’t a solution. Maybe those are exactly the windows that suit you. I wouldn’t like it, but it’s not my house ☺️ Regards
