Hello,

On Friday, I had an IKEA METOD VOXTORP high-gloss light beige kitchen installed. Everything went well except for the dishwasher (Siemens SX778X16TE). During the kitchen planning at IKEA, I was only advised to use a sliding hinge if I install a third-party dishwasher. After reading various forum threads here, I bought the above-mentioned dishwasher.

The dishwasher front consists of two panels measuring 60cm x 40cm (24in x 16in) that are connected by an IKEA metal rail. This metal rail is positioned exactly where the dishwasher’s mounting brackets need to go and is about 5mm (0.2in) thick. If you shift it, the mounting brackets for the Vario hinge would not fit either due to the thickness of the metal rail. Routing the hinges is also not an option because the front is handleless, and the top 4cm (1.6in) of the front is only about 5mm (0.2in) thick.

The kitchen installer said the only solution he could think of was to screw a furniture back panel with a thickness of 3-5mm (0.1-0.2in) onto the two panels to connect the two parts flush. If that does not work, only a single front panel would be possible. However, that would spoil the front’s visual design.

Does anyone perhaps have an idea how to install the split front with Vario hinges? I am attaching photos.

Thanks and best regards

Lars

Hmm, does anyone have any ideas? The kitchen will be installed next Friday.

Hello
The issue with the connecting rails and the variable hinge is known and has already been discussed here.

... just like in the linked thread (routing out) it is not possible here because the handleless Voxtorp fronts are only 5 mm (0.2 inches) thick in the handle area. You could screw on a thin panel and route the connecting rails into that (this would be mechanically more stable than just a thin panel alone).

and pay attention to the total weight of the structure. Siemens specifies 3-10 kg (7-22 lbs). If it exceeds 10 kg (22 lbs), you need to contact customer service, which will likely mean replacing the hinges.

Hello,
I am new here and have the same problem.

Since I need to install two 40cm (16 inches) fronts and the mounting of the Siemens Vario hinge starts at about 21cm (8 inches) from the top, a flat steel bar should provide enough stability, right?

Thank you in advance,
Horst
