Hello,

we recently replaced our kitchen mixer tap and installed the YTTRAN mixer tap/kitchen, chrome-plated – without pull-out hose.

So far, so good, but there is one question:

Is it normal for the YTTRAN mixer lever, which moves from cold to hot, to have a slight wobble or *play*? The YTTRAN can be moved slightly from side to side when touched and moved sideways. Not much, but noticeable. I have never experienced this with any other faucet before.

We previously had a Grohe faucet, which was only installed for a short time and then sold because it had a relatively high spout that we did not like in hindsight. That mixer lever was firmly fixed with no play.

Can anyone share their experience with this YTTRAN mixer lever?

And a further question:
If I want to replace the YTTRAN faucet, how does that work? I can’t just remove it first and take it to IKEA, can I? Do they give you a faucet first, and then you return the old one within a few days?

Thank you very much for any advice.

Hello,

I’m not familiar with Yttran – but the single-lever faucets I know all have a screw that secures the mixing lever to the cartridge (usually a small Allen screw). If this is loose, the top part can wobble. These screws are often hidden under covers (for example, the hot-cold indicator or similar). The Yttran catalog image doesn’t show a cover – maybe there is something on the back side?

Hello,

thank you very much.
That’s exactly how it is, and I had suspected it as well, but wasn’t completely sure.
I had already noticed that at the rear of the mixing lever there is a small chrome-plated metal cover, about 5-6 mm (0.2-0.25 inches) in diameter.
Following your tip, I tried to remove this cover, which wasn’t easy. You had to push it from the inside out underneath the mixing lever with a flat screwdriver.
Then you actually see a small screw behind it, and that must be it. You probably need to tighten it, but I failed at that again…
Because this screw has a special shape and although I have almost all common screwdriver types, I don’t have the right one to properly tighten this screw.

Anyway, the faucet didn’t fully convince us either, so we are returning it to Ikea next week.
We have already ordered a Grohe faucet (design similar to the Yttran), as you know exactly what you get and can rely on it for many years. We previously had a Grohe faucet in the kitchen for a few months, but it had a rather high spout (C-shaped), which wasn’t very practical because it splashed a lot. Then we happened to see and buy the Yttran faucet at Ikea and switched from Grohe to Ikea.
It was a less convincing detour to an Ikea faucet.

In the future, it will be Grohe again, no questions asked.

Thanks again for the advice.

Best regards

The screw might require a 2.5mm (0.1 inch) hex key.

Tried everything, unfortunately it doesn’t fit.
Allen key, which is always the first thing I try with Ikea products.

But anyway, the faucet will be returned.
In this category, you have to prefer other products for better quality.

Thank you.

It doesn’t matter whether this is normal or not. If the mixing lever is loose, get a different faucet, preferably not from a furniture store.
