Hello everyone,
I will soon be purchasing or expanding my kitchen.
Currently, I have an 8-year-old Faktum kitchen, which I will either extend or replace with Metod, depending on the moving date.
What doesn’t quite work for me with my current kitchen is the worktop height.
I am 176 cm (5 ft 9 in) tall and currently have a worktop height of only 90 cm (35.5 in), which is too low for me.
Therefore, the new kitchen should be higher, ideally 97 cm (38 in) or more.
With Faktum, I get 95 cm (37.4 in) (base cabinet 70 cm (27.5 in) + 21 cm (8.3 in) legs + 4 cm (1.6 in) countertop)
With Metod, only 92 cm (36.2 in) is possible (base cabinet 80 cm (31.5 in) + 8 cm (3.1 in) legs + 4 cm (1.6 in) countertop).
I want a plinth at the bottom, not capita legs. (I currently have those and I no longer like them.)
Will there be taller Metod legs for plinths coming soon, or is it possible to use Faktum legs on Metod cabinets?
How have you handled this, or are you all simply shorter?
Best regards,
Steffi

IKEA-Experte11 May 2014 18:46With some DIY work, the Faktum legs can definitely be installed. Whether they can simply be plugged in and whether there will be additional heights for Metod with the launch in Germany is something only Nayla can probably say with some certainty. However, she seems to be too busy lately to check in here.
I installed the Faktum legs on a wall cabinet that didn’t have any holes for legs. Normally, the base cabinets have holes where the legs are inserted, so I think it would be possible to drill the appropriate holes into the Metod cabinets if needed and then attach the old Faktum legs. I don’t see this as a big issue. I believe that in the near future, only the lower legs for Metod will be available, which the plinth (or baseboard) can be mounted to, or alternatively, the higher legs without a plinth cover.
