Hello everyone,
I will soon be purchasing or expanding my kitchen.
Currently, I have an 8-year-old Faktum kitchen, which I will either extend or replace with Metod, depending on the moving date.
What doesn’t quite work for me with my current kitchen is the worktop height.
I am 176 cm (5 ft 9 in) tall and currently have a worktop height of only 90 cm (35.5 in), which is too low for me.
Therefore, the new kitchen should be higher, ideally 97 cm (38 in) or more.
With Faktum, I get 95 cm (37.4 in) (base cabinet 70 cm (27.5 in) + 21 cm (8.3 in) legs + 4 cm (1.6 in) countertop)
With Metod, only 92 cm (36.2 in) is possible (base cabinet 80 cm (31.5 in) + 8 cm (3.1 in) legs + 4 cm (1.6 in) countertop).
I want a plinth at the bottom, not capita legs. (I currently have those and I no longer like them.)
Will there be taller Metod legs for plinths coming soon, or is it possible to use Faktum legs on Metod cabinets?
How have you handled this, or are you all simply shorter?
Best regards,
Steffi

Hello monster,
wow, 97 cm (38 inches) working height is quite high... are you sure that won’t be a bit too tall for you? Just a few centimeters can make a big difference, in my opinion.
Have a look on eBay or at hardware suppliers for plinth feet. They come in almost every height. The only downside is that you’ll need to cut the plinth panel from an expensive cabinet front yourself, since the plinth panel is only available in 8 cm (3 inches) with Metod.

Some friends of mine have a 1 m (39 inch) countertop height, and chopping and cooking is much more comfortable than with my current 90 cm (35 inch) height.

The only downside is that you’ll have to cut the toe kick panel yourself from an expensive cabinet front, since with Metod the toe kick panel is only available in 8 cm (3 inches). I had already considered that, but it’s more of a DIY fix… which I’d rather avoid.
At the moment, I’m also thinking about moving away from Ikea kitchens because of the countertop height.
I’m not sure about the price if I go for a kitchen from a furniture store. It’s probably more expensive.
Maybe someone knows if Ikea will extend the range of plinth legs?

IKEA-Experte10 May 2014 11:41Hello everyone,
soon I will be buying a kitchen or expanding my current one.
Currently, I have an 8-year-old Faktum kitchen, which I will either expand or switch to Metod right away. That depends on the moving date.
Hello, first of all, I don’t understand why Faktum or Metod depends on the moving date. Faktum parts can still be ordered for another 2 years, which is much later than your moving date.

I would first test different counter heights at showroom kitchens.Friends of mine have a 1-meter (39 inches) worktop height, and chopping and cooking is much more comfortable than my current 90 cm (35 inches). I have already tried this...Can someone now answer this question for me:
Will there be taller Metod legs for kickboards available soon, or can I maybe even fit Faktum legs on Metod cabinets?
