Hello,
I have a question about the mounting rail and would appreciate it if someone could help.

I need to know the hole diameter for the screws on the mounting rail. From what I understand, the hole diameter of the small plates ("tabs") is actually more important, since these seem tighter in pictures. These tabs still need to be able to move. Knowing the hole diameter would help me determine the necessary screws.

As mentioned, it would be very helpful if someone could provide these measurements. Otherwise, I would have to wait another two weeks until I can visit Ikea again. Then I would just buy a rail and measure it myself.

Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

The holes in the RAIL are exactly 15mm (0.6 inches) and the holes in the plates are 11mm (0.4 inches).

I use 6x80mm (6x3.1 inches) universal screws and 10x56mm (10x2.2 inches) Würth anchors, as they hold well against turning. You might want to test what holds best here. (Cheap anchors can cause problems later.)

It’s more than enough to drill a hole every 30cm (12 inches).

Hello,
I have a question about the mounting rail and would appreciate it if someone could answer it.

I need to know the hole diameter for the screws on the mounting rail. As far as I can see, the hole diameter on the "plates" is even more important because they appear to be narrower in pictures. These "plates" still need to remain movable. Knowing the hole diameter would help me determine the correct screws.

As mentioned, it would be very helpful if someone could provide these measurements. Otherwise, I would have to wait another two weeks until I can visit IKEA again. Then I would just buy a rail and measure it myself.

Thanks in advance and best regards!

Are you 100% sure you need them?
9.5 out of 10 customers don’t have a suitable wall for this anyway...

@Strahlemann-69

Thank you very much for your information and also for the tip regarding the screws and wall plugs. I usually only use Fischer wall plugs, but I will take a closer look at those from Würth.

@Ikeaner

I probably won’t absolutely need them. I have already assembled 3 Faktum kitchens—known for not using rails since they were never designed for Faktum. Now I am assembling a Metod kitchen for the first time and thought I’d try out the rails. I have no experience with them at all and will probably have to wait and see how it goes.

So the rails are GREAT for the wall cabinets!!

They would also have been ideal for the base cabinets in my case, but since my tiles extend 10cm (5 inches) up the wall as a backsplash, I would have had to add about 1cm (0.4 inches) underneath. So I decided against it.
In the bathroom, my wife got a makeup corner that is suspended in the air. The rails are perfect for that.

For the bathroom, I used only 60cm (24 inches) high Metod base cabinets (40x37 and 40x80) and 2 wall cabinets. Plus the oak Hyttan fronts.

My currently still under-construction U-shaped kitchen with an island is therefore WITHOUT any kickboards at the bottom.

The rails work best when you have a perfectly straight wall, which is usually not the case in Germany, or if you are skilled enough to properly shim the rail at the right points and with the correct thickness. Otherwise, once you have 3 to 4 cabinets or more, it’s easier and, most importantly, results in a straighter installation if you attach the cabinets directly to the wall instead of using the rail. I know many houses where customers are advised against using the rail for this very reason—and rightly so.
