Hello,
I have a question about the mounting rail and would appreciate it if someone could help.
I need to know the hole diameter for the screws on the mounting rail. From what I understand, the hole diameter of the small plates ("tabs") is actually more important, since these seem tighter in pictures. These tabs still need to be able to move. Knowing the hole diameter would help me determine the necessary screws.
As mentioned, it would be very helpful if someone could provide these measurements. Otherwise, I would have to wait another two weeks until I can visit Ikea again. Then I would just buy a rail and measure it myself.
Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

IKEA-Experte22 Apr 2016 14:26I have the exact opposite opinion. If the wall is straight, I simply hang each cabinet individually on the wall, and they fit together. With an uneven wall, the sides of the cabinets no longer align perfectly, and you can spend ages shimming until everything fits together without tension.

IKEA-Profi22 Apr 2016 23:28I have a completely different opinion. If the wall is straight, I simply hang each cabinet individually on the wall, and they fit seamlessly together. With a crooked wall, the sides of the cabinets no longer align perfectly, and you can spend ages shimming them until everything fits together without stress.Have you ever installed them using a rail?

What you wrote about the hanging rail is interesting. That was exactly my line of thought—that a rail could be helpful with uneven walls. With straight walls, I also have no problems attaching the cabinets directly to the wall.
As I mentioned before, I have no experience assembling a Metod kitchen yet and was a bit uncertain about the hanging rail over the past two days. But I think I will give the rail a try. In the worst case, if I can’t manage with it at all, I will attach the cabinets like with Faktum.
I’m really curious to see how the method with the hanging rail will turn out. My walls aren’t exactly how you’d ideally want them. I wouldn’t have wanted to do my first kitchen assembly on these walls.

IKEA-Experte23 Apr 2016 10:35@ Ikeaner: Rails yes, specifically the ones from METOD no, but I don’t see any fundamental differences there.
@ krspeedy: At hardware stores, you can find leveling shims for window installation (which aren’t really wedges but spacer plates). I would get some of those in advance if the wall is very uneven.
