Dear all, I haven’t found any answers through searching online or in the forum, so I’m asking you.
In my kitchen, I plan to install only two wall cabinets on one wall and one cabinet (all Metod) on the other wall. Now my question is—what kind of saw should I use to cut the wall rail, and which screws and wall plugs should I use? I have a 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches) wall cabinet and a 140 x 40 cm (55 x 16 inches) horizontal cabinet that will be placed directly next to each other. I’ll need the remaining part of the wall rail for the other wall. I have UX 8x50 R universal wall plugs and 5x70 mm (5x2.75 inch) screws. These should be sufficient and support quite some weight, right? Would it be better to fix them at 20 cm (8 inches) intervals, or is every 25 cm (10 inches) enough? The wall is really difficult to drill into because it’s uneven and requires deep holes, so every hole I avoid is a relief :/ Would it be manageable to do this alone, or should I get help to install it?
Thanks in advance for your tips and advice.

IKEA-Experte2 Jun 2015 15:52Hello, you can shorten the rail with a jigsaw. It should also work with a handsaw.
The installation guide specifies a maximum hole spacing of 30 cm (12 inches).
The screws and wall plugs should be fine. Everyone uses the usual wall plugs for this, but Fischer states that those plugs are not suitable for heavy wall cabinets. Make sure the screws are not countersunk head screws.
If the wall cabinet is only hanging on the wall and is heavily loaded, I would be a bit cautious. It places a lot of stress on the rail. In this case, it’s better to use more rather than fewer screws.
This can all be managed quite well alone, but I also know people who would be completely overwhelmed.

IKEA-Experte2 Jun 2015 16:23IKEA would be unwise to make any recommendations. They don’t know the walls and could potentially be liable if the furniture doesn’t hold and causes injury due to incorrect advice. I would also never claim that these are definitely the right anchors and screws to use.

easy-zicke18 Dec 2016 22:16Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, the link provided above no longer works, and when I use Fischer’s dowel finder, I keep ending up with the long shank anchor SXR 8 x 80 Z with countersunk wood screws!?
1.) The IKEA expert advised against countersunk screws above
2.) So why does Fischer offer wood screws for this?
Probably typical “female” questions, but since I don’t have any male support oops: oops:
I want to hang 80cm (31.5 inches) tall Metod wall cabinets (37cm (14.5 inches) deep) as a sideboard at 25cm (10 inches) height from the floor... The cabinets are already assembled and the rail is there, and I even have someone who can shorten the rail... Now I would like to get the screws and anchors so I have everything ready when I find someone to help me drill, but I am at a loss...
Does anyone have any advice? I assume the wall is concrete.
Thanks in advance
