Hello,

we want to get the Metod kitchen and plan and assemble it ourselves. We will buy everything in two weeks in France.

Now to the specific question: The base cabinets with feet are about 88cm (35 inches) high, but most dishwashers are only 81.5cm (32 inches) tall. Even IKEA France only offers this size. If I buy a dishwasher that is 81.5cm (32 inches) high, that means I would have to attach feet to it, and the front panel would be installed lower than intended.

We want to buy a dishwasher with timerLight technology, which projects the remaining time onto the floor below the dishwasher. This wouldn’t work anymore if the front panel is mounted lower than planned, right?

Am I missing something here?

Regards,
Daniel

Why is that actually the case? The 80s front ends 8cm (3 inches) above the floor. It should still open easily even when fixed with external devices, right???

I will refer you again to the other post.

Okay, I understand the issue is not the distance from the floor but the depth towards the base...

Maybe I should just get a standard built-under appliance... Are the integrated ones actually screwed to the neighboring units somehow? Do they stand firmer and have better gap dimensions than the usual slide-in models?

It just looks nicer. Metod with a machine without a kitchen front definitely looks a bit makeshift. Get a tall Miele, then you can attach the 80cm (31.5 inches) front to it.

Except for free-standing units, which have their own lid on top, you basically can’t just slide a machine in without fixing it. Whether it’s undercounter appliances with a front panel, semi-integrated, or fully integrated dishwashers—all of them need to be screwed in. This can be done either to the adjacent cabinets or to the countertop, provided the countertop is not made of stone, acrylic, etc.

Take a look at Miele’s website for an XXL machine and its installation instructions.

Just to follow up,

I recently came across compact dishwashers on the BSH websites (I probably need a new washing machine anyway). The larger model is 60 cm (24 inches) high, about the same height as an oven. They are built-in units with stainless steel front panels. This might be a good alternative to conventional under-counter dishwashers for smaller households. The 60 cm (24 inches) height module should fit quite well into Metod cabinets with their 10 cm (4 inches) and 20 cm (8 inches) height increments, while the smaller dishwashers are 45 cm (18 inches) high, which probably wouldn’t fit as well.
