Hello,

we want to get the Metod kitchen and plan and assemble it ourselves. We will buy everything in two weeks in France.

Now to the specific question: The base cabinets with feet are about 88cm (35 inches) high, but most dishwashers are only 81.5cm (32 inches) tall. Even IKEA France only offers this size. If I buy a dishwasher that is 81.5cm (32 inches) high, that means I would have to attach feet to it, and the front panel would be installed lower than intended.

We want to buy a dishwasher with timerLight technology, which projects the remaining time onto the floor below the dishwasher. This wouldn’t work anymore if the front panel is mounted lower than planned, right?

Am I missing something here?

Regards,
Daniel

Hello,

unfortunately, Miele is a bit above my budget.

Of course, I could also choose a semi-integrated unit and simply cut the front panel. I just don’t know how it would look then... since it wouldn’t have a finished edge anymore...

A covering strip is included for the edge. To ensure a neat finish, I would recommend cutting the front with a circular saw or having it cut by a carpenter.

Hello,

it’s a pity Miele is a bit over my budget.

Unfortunately, the internet doesn’t offer any real bargains either.

In our case, the local dealer was up to €150 (around $160) cheaper than the best online price, while for most other manufacturers it’s the other way around.

At the end of last year, Miele discontinued the 5000 series and replaced it with the 6000 series. Since they still offer spare parts for a long time, you can safely opt for a discontinued model.

In terms of quality, I find Miele dishwashers better. In consumer tests, they scored slightly lower compared to BSH appliances due to their somewhat higher water consumption. However, you can read in dishwasher test reviews that BSH devices sometimes have issues despite their low consumption figures. My mother had poor experiences with Neff and Siemens, both part of the BSH group, with appliances lasting only 5 and 3 years respectively. They were mostly used on intensive (70°C (158°F)) and occasionally automatic programs (55–65°C (131–149°F)) and despite good maintenance (regular use of machine cleaners), they became clogged. In 2004, she replaced her nearly 40-year-old Miele G50 from 1966 for ecological reasons. It was still washing dishes back then! You won’t find that kind of longevity anywhere today.

So, it’s worth asking local dealers—you might find a good deal.

My Bosch has been running for 10 years, mostly on the automatic program.
