Hello everyone,

Now that I am the proud owner of an IKEA kitchen still in 1000 separate parts, I’m reaching out to the IKEA fan community for some help.

We received the delivery yesterday and have already assembled two cabinets completely (one base cabinet for the stove and a corner carousel unit). However, a question has come up. How do I attach the legs? The manual says they need to be fixed with a screw, but no screws were included in the delivery—neither with the legs nor with the cabinet body. Does anyone have experience with how these are mounted? They are 16mm (approximately 0.63 inches) legs without height adjustment.

Many thanks,
Mike

There are only two types of feet: plastic ones and metal ones.
Although RATIONELL offers a wide range of products, they don't have any feet.
Somehow, I can't shake the feeling that it might actually be up to you...

Yes, alright. Sorry, I was mistaken. The legs are simply called Faktum. However, there now seem to be two different types of plastic legs. Take a look at the PDF and then check my picture again. Do you notice anything?

Oh Derp,

complaining afterwards doesn’t help anymore.

No, there is never a high-voltage cable included with the cooktop; it’s meant to be connected by a professional electrician! You found a great solution with the legs, very good! Honestly, the hotline won’t really help you. On one hand, the people there are not trained installers, and on the other hand, there are often communication problems. The customer explains something, the agent doesn’t understand, and vice versa. So it doesn’t matter what it costs. Even if you’re at the construction site, eventually someone goes home or, in an emergency, you can call someone for help or look it up online. But anyway. It seems the kitchen is now installed. Did you manage to fix the drawer problem?

Why not create your own post sharing your experience? Especially the tip about the legs could help others. And honestly, IKEA isn’t that bad; a lot really is well thought out. Try buying self-assembly furniture from a discount store — uuhhh! And the kitchen definitely looks good, right!?

Yes, of course. And if a professional company brings me a cable and charges me for it, I end up paying many times more than the value of the cable...

Of course, I eventually get home from the construction site, but beforehand, you try all sorts of things to get a drawer without instructions out of the cabinet. Have you ever tried that, Nayla?
The question is: why isn’t this in the manual...? There are actually people out there who don’t have internet access... They have to rely on calling the expensive hotline, and I really find that cheeky of IKEA. And how are you supposed to level the kitchen with the plastic feet without a wall molding / backsplash? Without a strip that precisely sets the horizontal level, it becomes extremely difficult.

And yes, the kitchen looks good... But without a lot of good tools and special equipment (for example, a stainless steel sink where you have to mill the hole for the faucet yourself), you’re really stuck. Even milling a hole for the faucet—that’s too much to expect from IKEA. Why? As a consumer, I have to figure out how to get that milling tool and, if necessary, buy it new, just like many other consumers. Such a milling cutter or hole saw attachment for a drill also costs extra, unless you know someone who has the tool. And I don’t think that should be necessary.

Even milling a hole for the fixture—even that is too much to ask from IKEA. Why?

So that you can make the hole where you need it and don’t have to have the sink custom-made around the hole, plain and simple!
My goodness, your whining is really getting on my nerves.

So that you can make the hole where you need it, instead of having to have the sink manufactured around the hole, quite simple!

My goodness, your whining is really starting to get annoying.

Sure, I get it. I’m just saying what many others are only thinking and keeping to themselves. You’re probably confusing my objective criticism with “whining” and projecting something onto me that suits your agenda. Sorry if I shook your IKEA worldview. But I thought this forum was for exchanging experiences with like-minded people and helping each other out.
