Hello everyone,

Now that I am the proud owner of an IKEA kitchen still in 1000 separate parts, I’m reaching out to the IKEA fan community for some help.

We received the delivery yesterday and have already assembled two cabinets completely (one base cabinet for the stove and a corner carousel unit). However, a question has come up. How do I attach the legs? The manual says they need to be fixed with a screw, but no screws were included in the delivery—neither with the legs nor with the cabinet body. Does anyone have experience with how these are mounted? They are 16mm (approximately 0.63 inches) legs without height adjustment.

Many thanks,
Mike

About the hole in the sink for the faucet: This is almost never present in stainless steel sinks, regardless of whether they are from IKEA or any other manufacturer. This makes sense because if you have a draining board, you can install it either on the right or left side. If there were a pre-punched hole, the sink would need to be produced and stocked in two versions. Additionally, there are different faucets that require holes of varying sizes. Another advantage is that you can sometimes choose whether to position the faucet in the center or to the side.

Regarding the drawers: By now, the instructions do show how to remove them. I find the method shown by IKEA (pulling up very hard until the drawer jumps off the rail [ does not apply for Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy...]) terrible, but at least it works.

About the legs: The support can be fixed to the cabinet body with a screw. If the inserted legs fall out, it helps to thicken the top part of the leg with a piece of tape so that they fit more snugly in the bracket. So far, when setting up my kitchen, I have simply lifted the base cabinets slightly vertically and positioned them. That was never an issue.

I also find it annoying that the connection cable is not included. For my AEG cooktop, it was permanently attached. However, with a traditional stove, it is usually never included either.

@ IKEA-Experte: Drawer disassembly:

I agree with you, the option is mentioned in the manual, but it is incorrect!!!
If you look under the drawer, there is a white tab hidden on the right side of the rail. Push this in with a screwdriver while simultaneously sliding the rail backward. Do the same on the other side, and presto—the drawer comes out.

Why is it incorrect? It works as shown in the manual. However, it hurts my feelings to do it that way, so I do it as you described. For people who are not very dexterous, this can be difficult with the bottom drawer and generally with some others, especially when I think of many older people.

Topic oven / cooktop:
There used to be ...
Today it is different:
Cooktops require a cable for connection to a high-power electrical supply, and the oven requires a socket (230 volts).

This applies only to IKEA. Even nowadays, almost all manufacturers offer ranges with integrated cooktops. Built-in ovens (for high installation) and separate cooktops have also existed for a long time. In the past, cooktops were often supplied with control boxes because the control elements took up significant space on the cooktop itself, and electronic power regulation was not yet available.

Hi,

It’s been a day since the last post, but here’s my suggestion: stick a piece of double-sided tape between the baseboard and the lower cabinet. That way, no leg will slip out when pushing it into place.

So I assume you have Capita stainless steel legs?

There should be 16 screws included with the legs!

Honestly, I can’t imagine that ALL the legs would be missing screws.

I’m sorry to bring up this old topic, but I have a problem with these screws—they are too small for the IKEA cabinet where the oven is installed (Metod). What should I do now? Is there a replacement available from IKEA?

The screws are exactly right. Capita does not have pre-drilled holes; you have to screw directly into the wood. In the assembly instructions, you can see that the pre-drilled holes are not used.
