Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the Ikea Metod assembly kit to build my kitchen. I noticed that the instructions mention different types of screws but don’t clearly specify which screws are actually included in the assembly kit and which I would need to buy separately.

My specific question is: Which screws are included in the Ikea Metod assembly kit so I can avoid any surprises during installation?

I’m also interested to know whether the screws vary depending on the kitchen unit (e.g., wall cabinets, base cabinets, or drawer systems), or if the kit contains a uniform assortment of screws.

I would appreciate a detailed explanation of exactly which screws are included in the set and whether there are any special screws that should be purchased additionally.

Thank you in advance!

Don’t forget: Some screws in the set are also intended for mounting the feet. These are usually noticeably shorter and have coarse threads to ensure a secure hold in the material.

I would like to add: For assembling the cabinet, you also need the so-called Spax screws, which are often included in wood screw sets. Otherwise, regular screws rarely fit because the material is quite thin.

Thank you for the answers so far. I also find it difficult to know which screws are needed. For me, the set was a good starting point, but during assembly, I sometimes felt unsure whether the included screws were really the best choice.

That’s why I think it’s helpful when the quality and appropriate applications of the screws are discussed here. Sometimes you want to make sure that everything holds securely and remains stable over time.

The set is primarily intended for the initial assembly of the cabinets and their connection.

That was exactly one of the points I wanted to know.

I am also interested in whether screws might be missing in some cases – for example, when installing a particularly heavy door or drawer.

Or if Ikea generally uses “standard” hardware here and you might need to add more?

Or does Ikea generally rely on a “standard” set that may need to be supplemented?

Ikea usually provides a standard set that is sufficient for most common applications. However, if there are special requirements—such as heavy fronts, additional fittings, or specific installation situations—it is advisable to supplement with screws of higher strength or longer length.

The instructions often recommend using higher-quality screws if there is any doubt.

Depending on the load, you should make sure to use the correct screws from the set in the designated places to ensure stability.

That makes sense.

Is there a kind of system or overview indicating which screw size or type is preferred for each part of the carcass? For example, larger screws for wall mounting or rather shorter ones for internal carcass connections?
