After installing two Faktum base cabinets with drawers, 30 x 70cm (12 x 28 inches) and 50 x 70cm (20 x 28 inches),

there is a problem with the large front on the 50 x 70cm (20 x 28 inches) model.

Large front leaves a gap at the top when closed.
Gap starts from flush at the bottom and opens about 1cm (0.4 inches) at the top.
Incorrect installation or misaligned front?

How can the front/drawer be removed?
Drawer slides with soft close, yellow back

Who can help? Thanks

Hello,
if it is just one centimeter (0.4 inches), you should actually be able to see it from the front if it is warped.
Could the rails have been installed crooked? That would mean that the drawer, once pulled out a bit, would slide out completely on its own.

Since it’s very difficult to reach underneath the rails, I would remove it using the IKEA method: pull the drawer out slightly, reach under it from the front, and lift the drawer upwards to remove it. You might feel like something will bend or break, but that won’t happen.

Unfortunately, no photos are visible.

Hello IKEA expert,

the images didn’t work out somehow. Probably the wrong image server. Do you know one without a password where pictures can also be found? Everything is clearly visible in the images.

I have tried the side locking mechanism at the front, the gray disc, turning and pulling out the front panel. No success. Then there should be some kind of tabs at the bottom that need to be pressed. Also no success. If I could just get the front panel off, I would be much further. Checked the rails with a spirit level, everything is fine.

Today I received an email from the "friendly service." I’ll strongly hold back from commenting on their response. Why can’t IKEA properly document the expansion options for the different drawers and everything related to locking mechanisms and rails?

They could also post short videos like on YouTube, either on IKEA’s site, in the forums, or on YouTube itself.

Thanks in advance

You can upload the pictures to your gallery here. After uploading, a link is highlighted. Copy it with Ctrl C and paste it with Ctrl V into your text. It’s best to have one window for uploading the pictures and another for writing your reply.

The disassembly is shown in the assembly instructions as I described. Take a look on page 14:

Hello Elch,

please take a look at page 17 of the drawer manual – it explains how to adjust the front vertically using the drawer slides. It is difficult to tell from your pictures whether the front is warped.

1. Check if the drawer is properly seated at the back or if it is only resting on the rail at the back and can tip forward.
2. Use a straight edge to check if the front is even.
3. If 1. and 2. are correct and the rail is properly installed, then adjust the tilt as IKEA-Freund described.
