Hello dear community,
I have been planning our new IKEA kitchen for weeks.
I am really enthusiastic about raised dishwashers because they relieve the back quite a bit.
The dishwasher is already purchased, but still with the dealer; soon we want to pick up the kitchen at IKEA in Breslau (it’s much cheaper there).
The dishwasher is a semi-integrated Siemens with standard dimensions.

So far, my plan has been to simply place it on a 40cm (16 inch) high base cabinet (sold as a wall cabinet for the fridge but usable as a base cabinet in the planner).

The dishwasher will form the right end of the kitchen run. If the project is successful, I will gladly report back here and post pictures.

My questions now:

1. Load capacity of the base cabinet:
How much weight can the cabinet hold? I was thinking of placing a leftover piece of a 40cm (16 inch) countertop between them, partly for the height and partly to transfer the weight not on the cabinet top but on the side panels. In this case, would it be better to put four legs under the cabinet instead of front legs and a rear mounting strip? Will the cabinet still be stable enough if I cut out approximately 5x5cm (2x2 inch) holes in the back side panels to run a drain pipe through and omit the back panel for the same reason? I might then also screw some extra brackets inside the cabinet.

2. Fixing the dishwasher:
Usually, a dishwasher is fixed with screws on the front sides. On the right side, next to the wall, I was thinking of simply screwing a wooden batten to the wall, attaching the dishwasher to it, and of course putting a front panel on the front. On the left side, it’s not so easy. A standard-height base cabinet for the sink adjoins there. I can probably only use the lower fixing screw since above that is just the cabinet side panel, which doesn’t support anything. Only a countertop will be placed on top of the dishwasher. It will additionally rest on metal brackets at the back and right side. Does it make sense to secure the dishwasher against tipping at the top back as well? My worst-case scenario would be that my kid hangs onto the open door, and the dishwasher tips over onto him. Can dishwashers be secured somewhere in the back somehow? For example, with perforated straps, brackets, or fabric straps similar to those used on bookshelves?

3. Paneling:
I want to attach a 60x60cm (24x24 inch) front panel to the dishwasher. This is standard without tricks. Since I will have a 4cm (1.5 inch) countertop underneath anyway, the plinth height will be 20cm (8 inch). I would cover this by fitting a taller door on the cabinet below. Does anyone have experience with how much gap needs to be left so that the bottom edge of the dishwasher door does not catch when opening? The 3mm (1/8 inch) standard gap from IKEA is probably not enough. Or is there another solution?

4. Filler panel:
On the right side, next to the wall, I need a filler panel. I know I have to cut it from a cabinet side panel. But how do I secure it? I don’t want visible screws from the front. Are there any clips you can screw in and then just snap the panel on? Or maybe use adhesive on the wooden batten I mentioned before?

So, those were a lot of questions, probably some have already been asked somewhere else. I have already learned a lot of useful information here in the forum, but I want to make sure I haven’t missed anything important. Planning based only on information from the internet is a bit risky after all.
Many thanks in advance to everyone who has read my concerns this far – it became quite a long text.

Best regards,
Christian

Jelimi installed the dishwasher as a built-in elevated unit. He did not provide all the exact details. Why not send him a message?
