Hello,
I would like to buy a new kitchen, but I want to try assembling it myself. Is it difficult, or can someone do it even if they have never done it before? And what about the electrical appliances—do I just need to plug them in, or how do the connections work? So many questions, I hope someone here is experienced with this?!

Hi Bobo,
It’s no problem to assemble a kitchen yourself, but I would have the countertops cut to size professionally. This is something that requires precision. As for the stove, an electrician should handle it, as it operates on high voltage, and it’s best to avoid touching it if you don’t want to risk your life.

Hello,
I tried to do it myself at first, but then I had to hire someone to finish it. Assembling the cabinets is not a problem, but hanging them straight on the wall can be quite challenging. I would recommend getting someone to help you if you get stuck.

Hi,
I bought a kitchen from Ikea and you have to assemble everything yourself. It was quite an ordeal, I can tell you I was exhausted afterwards. Nothing fit properly, and then it turned out that the floor in the kitchen was not completely level. In the end, I hired a carpenter who helped me. That was the first and last time I tried to do it myself 🙁

We immediately got someone to help us. Also, you shouldn’t connect the stove and sink yourself; this should always be done by a professional. But assembling cabinets and things like that can definitely be done yourself if you’re not completely unskilled.

Who else?

Hello everyone,

I’m interested to know who has assembled a kitchen themselves and how it turned out.

To BRETT: Where exactly did you have problems with the IKEA kitchen?

I was also planning to go with an IKEA kitchen, but your comment made me hesitant. 🙄

Looking forward to your reply
