ᐅ How can I integrate Ikea Metod cabinets into existing kitchens?

NishanmiHello everyone, I am currently planning to expand my existing kitchen using Ikea Metod cabinets and am wondering about the best way to integrate them into a partly fixed kitchen unit that is already installed. Specifically, I am interested in how to modify or complement the Metod cabinets so that they match the existing kitchen both visually and functionally, without having to carry out completely new installations. What tips are there for achieving a clean transition between old and new elements, especially considering that the dimensions are not always exactly the same? I would appreciate any experiences, particularly regarding how to compensate for possible height differences or how to combine different cabinet fronts effectively.

Height differences can usually be compensated with adjustable feet. That is generally true, but especially with such modifications, the varying types of subfloors are often underestimated. It is not enough to adjust the height only at the feet. Stability through wall attachments and alignment with the existing kitchen unit are crucial. Also, I wonder whether combining different fronts is always as unproblematic as it seems. Visual consistency or mismatches can strongly affect the overall impression – does anyone have experience with this?
You can also see it as a small challenge: Old kitchen meets Ikea Metod – like an exciting crossover! 😄
If the cabinet fronts don’t match perfectly, it helps to choose a harmonious color scheme and design the transitions deliberately. Lighting or decoration can also be used to create accents that distract from minor mismatches.

I’m especially concerned about color since the existing kitchen is from a different manufacturer and is somewhat older. Would it make sense to use vinyl wraps or paint to at least visually unify the look? Are there any other suggestions for stylishly bridging small visual differences on doors or handles?
