Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.
I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

As a nice touch, you could continue the "columns" between the living room windows as the "battlements" of the terrace railing Sorry, but I can't quite picture that! What would it look like?Franky73 schrieb:
Sorry, but I really can’t imagine what you mean by that! Seriously?

What does something like that look like? I really hope it looks better than my drawing skills suggest:
So, build up the sections between the windows to terrace railing height (about 90cm (35 inches)), and above the windows themselves up to about half a meter (20 inches) below the parapet edge, filling these gaps with glass balustrades; continue the rest of the terrace — where there is no building structure underneath — for example, with railings incorporating glass balustrades.
For clarity: I skipped erasing the proposed hipped roof and you can hopefully imagine the rafters like at a topping-out ceremony, with solar panels on top, even without my Picasso skills.

So, build up the areas between the window mullions to the terrace railing height (probably about 90 cm (35 inches)), then build up above the windows to about half a meter (20 inches) below the parapet edge, and fill these gaps with glass balustrades; continue the rest of the terrace—where there is no structure underneath—with, for example, railings with glass balustrades.
Keep in mind: with the roof I suggested—I didn’t bother to erase the hipped roof—and you can hopefully imagine rafters like at a topping out ceremony with solar panels on top, even without my Picasso-like abilities. Thank you very much for your effort! Now I understand what you mean! Even like this, with the idea of having a glass balustrade in between, it’s quite something. Not everyone has that!

Oh nice, a little castle! I think that’s cool. Forget about the shed roof and the hip roof! A flat roof with battlements around the edge up there. Yeah!kaho674 schrieb:
Oh great, a little castle! I think that’s cool. To heck with the gable and the hipped roof! A flat roof with battlements around the edge. Yeah! On top, there will be a flag with the family crest, and a drawbridge at the front!
